Gault is out injured so Germs will have to step up as the number 1 ruckman with back up from Noble and Ireland if he plays. Bright is also sidelined and will be so for a number of weeks I suspect. Bain has been dropped. In come Waite, Bayok and Anderson. I am surprised that Jetta came up as he looked very proppy last week. Perth look pretty solid even though they obviously still have a number of first choice players out injured. They still have some very good players including Sinclair who always gives us a hard time, Cary, Edmonds and Byrne.  I'm sure ex Swannies Rogers and Coniglio will be given a warm welcome by the lads in the Swans Bar
Im not sure about MO Mike but I did call for Pickering to use Waite as a small forward as he does have pace.......plus it is as far away from the opposition goals as possible where he has coughed up way too many this season with poor disposal or errors!

Not a glowing endorsement.

I would expect the stewards would give Basso a heavy 10 rating.

If the WAFL was played on your beloved Belmont Park 42 I daresay they would have to call it off......

I have been to Flemington Racecourse a lot more than Belmont Park Racecourse.

Apparently Swans are priced at one $ and 45c for the win. It's said Perth are sitting on 2 dollars 65.

well that is what you call an 8 point game - all the sides challenging for a finals spot lost and it's a 4 game buffer now

Well done SD on returning to the finals.....hopefully SD and SF meet in the elimination final....that would be a cracking way to put a finish to this love story.

Jim Carrey would be impressed with that - Dumb and Dumber 3. Little improvement from last week apart from Germs' 41 taps that should have seen us drive out of the middle...that didn't occur. Fisher, Anderson and now Germs are very good individually, but they need to combine better in the ruck.

A win is a win and we will take the 4 points but after the blistering 4 goal start, the team once again slipped into a familiar torpor and allowed Perth to get themselves back into the contest and the Demons more than matched us for the remainder of the game. Germs rose to the occasion and gave us an armchair ride in the ruck but we got very sloppy and our delivery into the forward line was haphazard. In contrast Perth had a couple of good key forwards in Cary and Giblett who led well and the Perth mids like Sinclair and Byrne delivered well to them.

Even though Swans didn't make the most of the breeze in the 3rd quarter, they had managed to whittle out a 5 goal lead well into time on, but then conceded 2 goals in the dying stages of the quarter to pull the margin back to 19 points at 3 quarter time.
Perth were only 13 points behind mid way through the final term with a breeze at their backs ( albeit a dying one) and I only really relaxed at around the 25 minute mark when Swans were 4 goals up again. They really did make it unnecessarily hard for themselves by playing wasteful footy.

Fisher was very good today, probably his best game for quite a while. Anderson showed why he was missed last week. Riley was excellent and managed 3 goals. I thought Waite did some good things but still managed to kick the ball out on the full a few times while in defence. Good move to shift Jones into the forward line as another marking option, they had the flexibility to do that because Ireland was included. Lewis Jetta had a decent day and unlike most of his teammates was able to hit a target more often than not with some excellent kicks. Erceg continues to impress as a solid defender, he has had a good season.

Overall there was nothing I saw today from Swans that would give any concern to the other teams in the top 5. Playing the way they did today they would have been well beaten by any of the teams above them

Great summary Mike.
One of those games where you are just happy to bank the 4 points as we certainly didnt play anywhere near 4 qtrs of footy yet again.
I am sure Percy would be pleased with the good form of his protege Matt Germs yesterday with Corey Gault out injured as he continues to develop and find his feet at League level.
