Just found out Swans champion full back of the 50s anc 60s Joe Lawson has passed away.
Joe made his debut with Swans in 1955 and went on to play 235 games, including the flags from 1961-63. He also played for WA.
Rest In Peace Joe. Not many of the 61-63 premiership players left.

One of the great fullbacks, was still playing mid 60's I think, always had good battles with a young fella by the name of Robertson from Subi.

A champion Full Back for the Mighty Black & Whites for a long time during the 1950s & 60s and was named Full Back in our Team Of The Century.

Anyone who knows anything about the history of Swans.Knows this name and has an idea of his achievements..
Would of been amazing to have been around in 1961.The build-up to the Grand Final and the amazing shock victory. With a hat-trick .And 4 Gf appearances in 5 years.
Joe was a big part of all those historical events..RIP..
