beas: yep, they will be 425-450 or so after tea, from there, as you said, they will declare and the trouble will start for WA.

Mikey it highlights the poor state of the wickets in Australia. They are like roads for most matches, its no wonder as soon as our batters get onto wickets that seem or spin and we struggle

Spot on PH the boring roads produced out here are doing absolutely nothing for our batsmen once they leave our shores and not a lot for the poor bowlers who have to roll the arm over on these flat decks!

What a difference a day makes. Today in 4 games, 38 wickets fell for 1024 runs at a much more bowler friendly average of 27!

Yet another spineless performance by WA to add to the litany of collapses over the last 20 years. In their defence I suppose they were up against the test attack but the issue is that there are no specialist batsmen apart from Phillipe and Marsh in the team and Marsh is the only player in the batting group who is capable of batting more than a session it appears.

Update: Marsh has been dismissed twice in the one day which certainly has dashed his hopes of an unexpected call up to the Australian team

Overall in the days play WA lost 11 for 134, whilst NSW sauntered to 0-98 on the same wicket. No excuses, just a pathetic display of batting by a so called first class team.

Mikey, unfortunately the papers will report it was a good effort by a strong WA side against a test attack.

I think your summary is closer to the correct one

mikeh, ph, bease, what the media never admits, is that at least five of our own players have represented Australia in some form of the game, which should mean, that they were not intimidated by the New South Welshmen.

If Cartwright and Bancroft, had of played, the number would have been seven representatives, a little fact, that demonstrates, once again, that the WACA side has not been good enough for years.

Now we could have a most interesting debate on whether some of those players -- on both sides should have played for Australia, but I will leave it for another day.

bh -- correct, they were a more than okay band too

People at the WACA, these days it seems, place too much emphasis on Australian representation. For years, the national selectors have made changes at the end of series after series, only to have the said players never seen again, particularly in the test side. Phillips of Victoria and Cartwright come immediately to mind, but there are many more such players in the country.
