Would hope that the WAFC or SF and EF clubs might make a statement re their thoughts?

Personally lets hold our breath and see what is put on the table out of the Boston Review and see what is proposed?

Agree mate, lets wait and see.

But if it was a highly lucrative offer, say a tonne of dough on the table and other concessions, we would be mad not to look at it.

What a disgrace that anyone could suggest that East and South Freo should merge and the godless wasted space that is the Peel FC should remain. If that is the quality of their recommendations then the WAFC should take all legal means to recover its payment.

They wont touch Peel, current and potentiality growth in the area too high. Agree with Bazza though, may not be any better options.

Have a look at the REAL Peel team: the team that played in the ressies. They barely won a game. So much for junior development and a pathway.

Long term this is the only pathway to survival, it may not be our two clubs either others will have to go. I'm talking 50 - 100 year survival here not 5 or 10.

Bazza if Souths and Easts were to merge, that would mark the end of both clubs. Does anyone really believe that Brisbane is really Fitzroy?

It is a damning indictment on the WAFC that they would countenance any extinction of the traditional WAFL clubs and to keep the disgrace that is known as the Peel Football Club.

Yep the "end" of both and the birth of a new.

The history of both will always be there.

Us older crew have been lucky enough to have enjoyed the pre Eagles WAFL and hey day of the 70s and 80s - we had the best days, and have been privileged.

They wont be coming back. Its the past , that's all it is now.

SANFL have already done it.

The better option would be to merge Subi and Claremont, have them wear both club strips in alternate weeks. Just call it Claremont-Subi Lions or Subiaco-Claremont Tigers.

BH: exactlly, that is the type of crap that the marketers will try and sell to the members and competition, rather than relying on the traditions of both clubs to make changes as painless as possible.

BUT back directlly on the EF question, if the Sharks do merge or fall, similarlly, to the SANFL, we will have lost the most successful club in history; rememberring, always, that the protection of the WAFL is part of the re-mit of the Commision; it was even, as you and others have reminded posters, the justification for setting up the two AFL clubs in this town.

There are numerous options, I posted on this months back.

Fremantle is a realistic one, as both clubs are already looking to joint facilities.

Tbh Subi and Claremont are probably the least likely on a financial basis, as Subi are the richest club and Claremont already going ahead with great viability plans HOWEVER, both clubs are very smart and savvy when it comes to money, so do not at all be surprised that if the WAFL wack a huge WACK on the table plus more for the move the Quickly take it up, and then watch the moaning from all the rest left behind as they become one of the most powerful and wealthiest outfits in WA Sport. Geographically it makes sense, and a brand new Claremont Oval offers a great joint venue.

If SF and EF mergged, what name would they use? I would have thought the name Fremantle would be out of the question?
