Off to Gero this weekend for another important clash, this time v Peel. In round 1 the wheels fell of the EF bus in the final quarter, with EF coughing up a 4 goal advantage. With the wheels falling off the Freo bus, be interesting to see if Longmuir swings a few changes....though with Serong suspended, Peel may lose another Freo listed mid.

EF had their chance to bury WP in the 3rd, but poor kicking for goal, kept the reigning premiers in the game at 3/4 time. The EF goal kicking radar was righted somewhat in the final stanza, and EF eventually won the game in a canter. EF can't afford to do the same v Peel, as Peel demonstrated in their trademark  come from behind win v SF.

Still some injuries to the best 22, with Joyce, Meade and English all out for up to 3 weeks.....though good see LeastetSmith play his 2nd game back from injury in the reserves win over  WP on the weekend, and Schoenfeld back too.

With the U/18 champs done n dusted, I wonder if young forward/mid Koen Sanchez will follow in the steps of Cleaver and Hagan last year and make his senior league debut? Touch wood Sanchez has more luck at the draft then those two boys did.

Looking forward to the Geraldton trip this weekend. Bringing back some memories driving up via Great Northern Highway on Saturday! Lived in Mullewa for three years in the late eighties when Mullewa lead by champions such as Crummy Taylor dominated the Great Northern Football League. Then onto the Northhampton v Towns match featuring Harry Taylor, Josh Kennedy and Mark Le Cras and hopefully a win against Peel on Sunday.

We’re very fortunate to meet a weaker Peel team this Sunday.
Peel are usually at full strength when we play them.
No excuses not to win this one!

This statement should be taken the same way as your claim of having played for the Sharks in the 70's and 80's - with a grain of salt. LOL

Peel is not the issue here dude!

Anyone know how many Dockers we will face on Sunday?

Not too much change from the side that defeated Joondalup with ease last weekend. Leggett comes out for some reason. 204 cm Lachlan Blakiston has been named as first ruck and is set to make his WAFL league debut. Lester-Smith has been included on an extended bench as has Marlin, Kale Paton and Schoenfeld. They join Bailey, Ball, Bennett and McDonald vying for a spot. Surely Bailey, Bennett and Jacko will play. One spot up for grabs it would appear. Surely Joshy would have to be in the box seat for that.

Big game for EF to try to get to top 2 by the end of the season. With the rest of the fixtures the way they are some tough games ahead but if enough wins come through starting this weekend against a side that doesn’t, travel well it might all work out.My question though is will it make any difference to EF finishing top 2? If the WACA pull the same trick as last year and ban finals at the venue where do EF play?I don’t know what condition Moss St is in but guessing not available so does that mean playing at a neutral ground? Lots of water under the bridge before finals but does EF have a contingency plan ground wise?

Well Moss Street is a building site so if we make the finals and are in a position to host one it does beg the question where? Can't imagine the WACA would be any different from last season. Our old home ground Fremantle Oval may be an option. Just hope it doesn't rain as there is FA cover there.

You are right Ti Em that it seems grossly unfair that if EF work their guts out and eventually finish top2 and no home ground advantage exists if the WACA pull that stunt again. If EF find out that the WACA ground is a no go maybe they would consider “selling” their home finals game(if they get there) to one of the clubs that don’t make the finals.I don’t know what the arrangements with the WACA regarding bar takings is but I would be surprised if EF kept 100% of the takings. If that is the case selling the game to say Perth or SD would enable EF to get around the same money as bar takings if the game was at the WACA and the game is still at a neutral ground anyway.Of course the maths would have to be looked at but just a thought.

Freo oval would be the obvious alternate site, keeps you in the Freo space, close to your supporter base.
