Another tough game for EF, apparently the weather looks wet for the weekend. Will be interesting to see what the WACA surface will be like with some water. EF have done well v WP of late....couple of matches EF has burnt a lead for WP to win at the death....last meeting saw WP kick a fair few behinds, enabling EF to finish off the 2021 season in style.

English and Gorringe are back, with Medland and Tucker making way.....though Tucker may be injured as he is not named in the reserves. The wet might help EF counter the threat of Keitel, Hamp and Riddoch....though Knott is a very clever player up front. Good spread of goal kickers in that Derby loss....think EF had 8-9 individual goal kickers in kicking 12 goals.

Jono Marsh will be a key for EF goals, with Leggett, English and Montuban helping out....hopefully the two Victorian boys in MacDonald and Williamson will enjoy some wet weather footy......defence been very reliable so far this year, with Murdock and Boekhorst having outstanding seasons in the midfield.

Congrats to the 3 EF boys selected in the state u/18s in Hagan, Cleaver and Sanchez....whilst Calabrese is EF sole rep in the 16s squad.....good to luck to all four of them at their respective carnivals.

It was a real good game of football, ok two points the difference, WP definingly lost the game rather than EF winning the game BUT, EF played better. Both teams have completely different game styles, WP game style is get out of the backline with run and bomb it in to the forwards, I don’t like it. EF is more hit targets, possession, possession, find the loose man and hit him. EF also showed aggression and they weren’t afraid to hang on to the ball, even if they got caught holding the ball. WP had the opportunity to win the game three or four times in the last quarter, points don’t win games. Strange how the last quarter went for so long, not a lot of gaols scored and why was Dobson not allowed to take his screw kick.

Great to read your thoughts Winger.....always appreciated mate. My thoughts exactly about the length of that 4th quarter....though in all honesty the longer the quarter went on, the greater the chance of WP sneaking that last minute winning goal.

Another great spread of goal kickers for EF, with Leggett leading the way with 5.  Great game in terms of momentum swinging to n fro......thought the 2 ES recruits in MacDonald and Williamson acquitted themselves.....especially MacDonald, who is finding his WAFL feet. Murdock just keeps finding the footy as does Eardley.

Agree WP found ways to lose that game with  Knott 4.5 Keitel 0.3 and Dobson 1.3 all having opportunities throughout the match.....on another day it could of been a 5-6 goal win for WP.....but not the case with EF digging deep and securing another important 4 points with for once better kicking for goal.

Not much coming through the reserves sadly, once again Feist at 190 cm is the starting ruck....  tough ask for the reserves,a lot of fringe reserve reserves guys getting more game time then usually the case....only 1 tall key forward in colts eligible McManus(192) and another colts eligible in  McMillan(194) up back the only two players over 190cm..........never seen such a small EF side, irrespective of the grade.

Seems that it is the same players each week in the reserves leading the way , Haddow, Crowe, Ritchie, Depane, Featherstone , Paholski. Watching the reserves weekly the top 7 or 8 are okay , but they drop away quite quickly after that. They are quite young and have a few colts eligible playing. The danger is keeping the good ones keen and not losing them before the June 30 clearance deadline.

Cheers for that R78....totally agree with you mate....majority of those guys are midfield / HBF types who are in a long queue behind the current league boys.....Norrish and Feist are filling holes due to lack of reserves height....Norrish is being used as EF reserves focal forward and Feist is the reserves current number ruck....yet both aren't tall enough to develop as players in those roles.....but are doing their best in a bad situation....hopefully they don't leave because of getting fed up.

I guess most clubs have that battle with June 30 looming. I actually watched most of the Reserves this week and agree, very young looking at the date of births in the Budget and not a lot of height, though not sure that is why they lost. It's no surprise that they've been stretched with the 4 players going into the AFL at the start of the season and then add in the injuries currently. But earlier this year, out of the League side on the weekend: Goddard, McDonald, Williamson, Smith, Gorringe, Holmes and McGuire were all playing Reserves - pretty strong side when they were playing.

Anyways, gritty win for the League in a game that could've gone either way at the end. Jupp outstanding down back and Leggett popped up when he was needed- Marsh was well held again. Another great test against Claremont- whose midfield should provide plenty of problems.
