Every WAFL club is in the same boat.
When leggett and others go there at least you will know where your money went

Poor management and people giving them cash to spend on players is strange to me, you are paying Leggets transfer fee

All clubs recruit. So a club that was holding up the ladder should not recruit? that sounds like poor management. On field performance effects crowd turnout which effects bar takings etc.

Swans scaled back their recruiting for 3-4 years to get themselves back on track financially.
To spend every cent you get is why you are running a go fund me page

Smart move by the Gummies, i think some on here are pissed off because their club didn't think of it first.

They are running a go fund me page because they have (like all clubs) suffered a huge dent in revenue. Not just from the WAFC cutting their funding in half - none of the functions the club normally has can happen - this includes non club related private hire. Not to mention the match day revenue from bar takings, snacks, merchandise etc. Memberships renewal came to a grinding halt too. Maybe a Gofundme attempt to raise 100K is not GQ with you but it does actually make people aware (supporters and members or anyone who cares about the EFFC) that this cannot go ignored because the risk is there may not be as a result an EFFC much longer! Most of the other clubs i would imagine are in the same boat.

Well according to the page set up Todd Shimmon is the beneficiary and the organiser is the EFFC so it might go towards paying his salary maybe?!?!

I guess the beauty of a GFM page is that it becomes a matter of choice if you want to donate or not rather than hitting up already strapped sponsors, the WAFC or going into administration. I can't see why there's any angst against the Sharks for doing this as if you don't wish to donate then don't.

People can do what they want with their money, no concern of mine.
Even Blind Freddy knows where cash will go in the WAFL
Why an oppo supporter would want to fund their clearance for leggett and other players is beyond me, give the donation to your own club

I'm already a 2020 member of Subi and my club is not at risk of going under.

I agree with MO and BH. If, as the President says, EF are in no danger of going under, why on earth would an opposition supporter donate? I think the GFM is a very good idea, and one that other clubs might emulate. But surely it is pitched at the following: 1. EF members who don't mind contributing a bit extra; 2. Casual EF fans who don't sign up but are happy to throw a few dollars the club's way; and 3. That cohort of AFL fans who say "Hey, I used to go for EF." But if EF are trying to get opposition fans to donate, then they have some nerve, and anyone who has done so is a mug.

So are you calling Jye Bolton and John Townsend mugs as they've donated? Clearly it's a bit more tenuous than being made out by the Prez.
