It was a good game between two teams that wanted to play hard football.
We again played 3 and a bit quarters and Peel kept their chances alive witha good third with strong play at the ball and it resulted in a them closing the gap and putting the EP boys under pressure.
The last quarter saw the EP boys fight hard to win the ball and a few of the newer boys stood up to help the more experienced boys get us over the line, 6.5 in the quarter was a great effort from all the boys.
I was personally rapt to see Linford Smith (son of Alby) play his best game. Whilst he only had 12 kicks it was the quality of his play and the three goals, one an absolute ripper on the run, that earnt him a deserved award.
The only sour note was at the end of the last quarter when one of the peel lads decided to take his frustrations out and hit out. Sadly it was not in the spirit of the game and was unecessary when done from behind when the EP player had no protection or chance to defend himself. I like good hard football and the physical aspects of the game but this was a little cowardly and does not display the right sort of character.
