Power agrees to SANFL deal for reserves team from 2014

The Port Adelaide Football Club board has unanimously accepted the SANFL's conditions for the Port Magpies to become the Power's AFL reserves side.

After the board first said it would need more time to make a decision, the club released a statement announcing the plan would go ahead.

From next season, the Port Magpies will be made up of the AFL-listed players not picked in the Power's line-up.

Another 15 players can be recruited to make up the full side, with no age limit on the top-up players.

From 2015, Port will lose its recruitment zones and junior teams, but will establish academies to foster talent.

Port chief executive Keith Thomas said in a statement Port was finally a single club.
The Crows earlier struck a deal to have a reserves team in 2014.

that's big news for them ... lots of old boys won't be happy about that!
