According to Ric's site he played 17 games in 1980, none in 1981, a few in 1982 and 1984 respectively, for a total of 27 games. He may have had injuries, certainly, by 1984, he would have had a lot of competition in the backline: Crutchfield, Dean, Wilkinson, Reeves, Wallwork, Dean Wilson and Mitch Fussell In fact just looking at that list of backs in 1984, one could argue that Bunton under achieved finishing seventh.

Interesting Ark royal that you mention Paul Wallwork. Remember him as a real talent around 84/85. Remember him being carted off at Laithlain Park( I think) and never seen again..Do you know the story with him. Also Tim Gepp was a pretty hand backman in the late 70's. is he still the Eagles Rasputin?

oobisoobi: Thanks for the post. Yep, that is how I remember things as well. He was a strong marking centre half back whom had just broken into the side again when he got injurred. I think he came from the amateurs, as did Greg Wilkinson, whom you would re-call well. Ironically, Wilkinson too, would later be cut down by injury.

yes AR...Wilko was a fabulous player for Subi who will be remembered as the step ladder for Michael Mitchell when he took the mark of the century at Subi Oval that day. He was a regular state player and one of the fairest going around. These days I believe he's a vet in the western suburbs somewhere.

BC a good tribute to Wilkinson. He was, indeed a good footballer, helpped to make Subi fashionable again by making the state side in 1984.

Grassy: your a little hard on Mitchell; I was always happy to give him his mark, as Subi went on to win the geame. It is interestting that Rick and Sue Channel has footage of it , something they seem to have 're-discovrred' since they took over the telecast rights.

Many years ago AR I asked Channel Basil for some WAFL game footage from the 70s & 80s etc and apparently it was all taped over......and now all this footage from that very era has somehow come out of the woodwork!!!!!
I now refuse to watch that station because of that!

I wouldn't mind guessing they have just taken the footage from the wafl videoarchive website/you tube channel as I haven't seen anything that's not on their as apart of their flashbacks!
