Friday March 29, 4.10pm, Leederville Oval

16's Development squad 9.00am
Colts 11.00am
Reserves 1.40pm

Very interesting game. The Sinclair v Lycett duel has been talked about in the media already but then throw in the league's best ruckman in Paul Johnson and it becomes a real challenge for Subiaco. East Perth will now have the option of throwing Johnson forward. That spells trouble for us.

Probably Hampson, Waters and Phillips have done enough to warrant selection? Worthington, Stevenson, Moore, Clarke, Madut, Martin, Halligan in the mix also.

Tough game anyway you look at it.

That would at least throw the onus back to EP to find a big man match up for us in our forward line. Like we had in the scratchies with Sinclair spending quite a bit of time up in front of the sticks and Madut on the ball. It worried the opposition and I wish we didn't change that last week but I appreciate that big David has to take more marks himself and being the dedicated kid that he is, he's working around the clock to improve in that area. Excellent tap ruckman and super agile on the ground though already.

We've still got that problem at FF though. Hampson played in the midfield last week so I guess they don't plan to use him in front of goals but I'm sure he could do it. The again, our midfield badly needs some drive too. Like Vin says, perhaps Wortho could do a job up there. The question is how long to persevere with Herring?

lol...so many questions!!

I'm not saying we ignore the opposition line-up. Not at all.

But maybe we should go on the front foot and say right this is what we're doing, you find match-ups for us if you think you can.

Last year we became totally focused on matching-up and negating the opposition, to the point where Hassett played in a forward pocket to tag Hams who was playing back pocket. I don't see how a side can win often with those tactics.

From what Ive seen, you blokes should beat the Ferals. They have a slow midfield and their defence leaks horribly, Subi have enough pace to trouble their mids, the area that may trouble you and also assists them is you have no genuine forwards. You will have to contain Smith, but in saying that, you have the defence to withstand their forwards.

Subi by 14 !

Definately need Phillips , Waters and Hampson to add some skill and potential goal kicking. Perhaps Worthington too if fully fit. Madut will be required to assist against an A grade ruck combo in Lycett and Johnson. (How strong will EP be in 2014 with Johnson, Lycett, Hutchings and our man Sinclair et al playing most games?)

Keep Deluca inside 50 and keep him on the ground. None of this resting on the bench everytime a goal is scored.

Hope to see some improvement.

Subi will struggle to win games early this year. Will be looking at gradual improvement over the year as player become fully fit.

Bit disappointing that we're losing Dom Sheed for this match due to an AIS Academy exhibition game against the Collingwood VFL side.

Good for Dom though, playing on the MCG in front of plenty of AFL scouts etc

Nick Robertson (West Perth Colts) is the only other West Australian chosen in the AIS side for this game from what I understand.

This kid must be good, effectively an all australian for his age group.
