Very high stakes game this week as we'll drop further back if we lose.  I don't think we were that far away against Claremont but playing only in bursts in the first 3 quarters before a pretty good effort in the last to only lose by a goal will need to be improved upon.

The connection between our mids and forwards was the big problem against Claremont as we had more inside 50s but 7 less scoring shots so hopefully some work has been done on that during the week.  Hard to say which FART team will show up as Freo has a couple of injuries but suffice to say, they'll still have plenty AFL talent in their midst.

I think we can win but will need to bring our A game from the first bounce which was lacking last week when we fell 5 goals plus behind and then played catch up for the rest of the match.

Only Clinch and Robbins out for Berenger and Robinson in from what I can see. Robinson had it 31 times in the two's last week so interesting to see how he goes.  Also Lockyer playing ressies again which is a good sign.

BC a pretty good list, still prefer to see Robbins in for his defensive skills and pace, but not a bad list. Your right about Peelmantle, depends on which Freo team turns up. Looking more likely that Freo AFL will miss finals especially if they
lose this week which is a positive as player restrictions will be in force for Peel for the finals. Must win or we will be stuck in the elimination final zone, a very even top 5 at the moment, percentage could well determine who gets the double chance.

Another week, same crap going into our forward 50. 10 more inside 50s but still can't kick a winning score. Can I suggest Wardman take the mids and forwards coaches out for a few beers as clearly they've never met.

Bombing into our forward 50 does not work. The ball carrier needs to look at his options and if it means a sideways 20 meter kick to change the angles then so be it. It's far better than kicking towards goal only for it to be turned over. We are so predictable and need to change the way we move the ball forward into our front half and practice it over and over at training in match simulations.

I can't question our endeavour and effort, it's just the application which needs a lot of work. Two weeks in a row now we've lost games due to inefficiency in finding our forwards and it pisses me off big time because it can be fixed.

Fair point bc. Robinson shows a bit in they last. Borchett not in form. Clark. Borchett and Mayo need to take a few more marks though. Marking practice for them as well. They hit on Golding didn't help.

"Not the Subi of old. Making up the numbers."

Felt a bit like that in the second half, but I feel we've got a punch left in us. Somewhere. Somehow. Peel had some pretty good players yesterday.

Based on that performance, yes we are just making up the numbers, woeful game of footy really, the first half by both teams was just horrible to watch in what turned out to be ok conditions, surface was a bit slippery looked like a few players decided against the long stops. Agree the kicking into the forwards was terrible, so many times the ball was kicked over Borchets and Soks heads, Mayo started well but faded away. Clarke had an even contest with Reidy but did a bit better around the ground, but they had 2 big guys and easily won the hitouts, obviously learning from the previous outing. Our ball handling and movement was generally inept, Kitch got a lot of the footy but was uncharacteristically untidy by hand and foot, but was no orphan, Sok's radar was well off, should have had 3 or 4. Peelmantle came out after halftime and their AFL boys took over, O'Driscoll, Kuek, Sturk and Coyler with his pace ran us around and we looked lost at times. The fact that we came back and snatched the lead for a moment in the last is testament that we can compete at the top level if we can play like that for longer periods, same applied last week, but Peelmantle steadied and 2 quick goals put us away.
Most didn't have us in finals contention pre-season, the fact that we are 3 games and a healthy % in the 5 with 6 to go is better than expected. 2 winnable games coming up, not taking any team for granted in saying that, then a tough one against the comps most improved team in the Ferals. Should win 3 of the last 6, maybe 4 if we can get past Souths, but we seem destined for an elim final and need to aim for 4th to get a home game.

Their defensive unit was the difference, far too strong, with the help of our poor delivery.
Don’t usually say much about the maggots but how the hell can they go by one rule all day then change it in the last qtr. So many times they paid marks despite descent shoves yet in the 4th they penalised Sok who took it right in front and close to goals and then minutes later the same to kuek up the other end. They had let them go all day. Mind boggling

Yes DG. Both my daughter and I commented on the same thing. Sok should have been penalised for the push but so should about half a dozen FART players for exact the same thing. Inconsistency in interpretation by the umps is a killer for players and fans.
