Looks like we will get one with Nikki Winmar, and I have no problems with that.

My view is that it should be specific to events that will be played at the Stadium.

As we already have our tennis greats recognized at the "National" Rod Laver Centre I don't see any basis for simply repeating that for people like Margaret Court, albeit it would be well deserved.

Therefore no athletics, hockey or swimming as the centres of excellence already exist.

Really that leaves only Footy & Cricket.

Being a multi sport facility I don't think that football and/or cricket will dominate things.
Just as they did at Challenge Stadium some years ago, I would like to see some WA greats from the past honoured at Optus Stadium.
Just a few .... Shirley Strickland - the all time greatest Aussie Olympic medal winner. Herb Elliott - needs no comment. Polly Farmer - of course. Ric Charlesworth - contribution to hockey and cricket. Margaret Court - 64 Grand Slam titles. Luc Longley - NBA Champion. Dennis Lillee - of course.
There are other possibilities. Whoever maybe honoured, they should be in the legend class as above.
I also think that there is a limit to how many will receive such an honour. It should be a very exclusive club..

I reckon Lillee & Marsh should be done together. The old caught Marsh, bowled Lillee was iconic. They named a stand after them based on that so a statue should be no prob.

Jim & Phil Krakouer were iconic brothers from Mt.Barker. They were at the time the biggest story in Australian footy and pulled huge crowds thru the gates. They were a huge thing over east, they made the vics stand up and respect WA footy. People still talk about them.

another I would like to see is Margaret Court for shore, and not just to include a female but because she was a super star player.

Margaret Court, in my opinion, is the best female tennis player I have seen bar none. (For the record Rod Laver is the best male tennis player). However, she is from Albury, New South Wales.
