Colin Barnett opinion on this would be interesting. He had plans for the Waca as a redeveloped
20,000 seat stadium.Moving the Wafc there as the winter tennent.Lot better idea than the one floated today.

Stand the Test wrote: Yes agree a total waste of money. Lots of sporting organisations should be way ahead in the q for govt money. And thanks for shifting bbl to the stadium and wrecking it in the process morons.

please explain.
The crowds at the BBL were on average 14,000 more than what would have gone to the WACA

For a domestic Comp, Perth Glory could only dream of that sort of following

Umm we finished last didn't we?

The best use of the WACA is to build a GYM, Pool, medical facilities and a boutique accommodation, catering facility that would cater for every visiting sporting team to Perth, whether it be Aussie Rules, Soccer, Rugby, Cricket, softball, Hockey, etc
With the oval, it would be a one stop training preparation place as well as a boutique sporting arena for cricket to boot.

How to win friends and influence people - with an election just 2 months away:

Prime Minister Scott Morrison says the McGowan Government should use its own coffers to fund the WACA refurbishment, ruling out giving more money to WA because he had just delivered a $1.3 billion cheque to the State....................

.................. The Federal Government did not cough up anything towards the $1.6 billion 65,000-seat Optus Stadium, with the then Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull rejecting the request for financial support. At the time, he said the Commonwealth had given WA $1.6 billion for road, rail and infrastructure.

Could it have something to do with the fact it is in a pretty safe Labor seat?

Yep sounds good, because at the moment its looking increasingly like a white elephant , to small to be anything useful and to big for community use.

Ark, the club looked at both those options when they were dealing with the end of lease move from Subi Oval. Claremont Council at the time wouldn't play ball which is a shame as it seemed a really sensible option and Kingsway would have cost too much for both WP & Subi and the Council, Leederville was the best option on all fronts. If we did get moved to Claremont someones going to have to reimburse the club for the $2mill plus spent at Leederville or provide an equal or better set up at Claremont at no cost to the club and that cost to the Council and or state govt just cant be justified. Claremont council have spent all they will ever spend on Claremont oval. back when EP were forced out of Lotons they could have co-tenanted at Lathlain, east of the city would seem a natural location and WP & Subi could have co-tenanted at Leederville but Joondalup had already happened so the bird had flown.

Subi have a few more years losing money like last year and they may not be able to make demands on anyone.

Talking about things which have been badly run, the WACA's track record is another reason I would not move to the place. Nothing good has happened at that ground since they dug it up so they could re-align the member's stand in the mid 1980s.
