Big win by Claremont over East Perth last night puts last week's effort by the Dees into some perspective.
IMHO we are on the right track. Today is the big test. We must show consistency, no third quarter fade out and no turnovers.

Smokey i view it a little bit differently.
Claremont finished last season equal with us on the ladder with 7 wins.
Now they have put themselves right in the frame for not only a top 4 finish but a top 2 finish and we yet again will be fighting it out to avoid another wooden spoon.

We again are going through some sort of rebuild and dont get me wrong its fantastic that all these kids are getting a go albeit this was probably not in Spaldings plans in December/January.

So what sort of time frame do you put on us playing finals bearing in mind the good kids will get drafted?

30+, I do agree with you re Claremont. They have rebuilt quickly and put themselves back in the frame for finals and possibly a flag.
Bear in mind the depth of talent that has come thru their Colts' system over the years, something we have not been successful at doing.
This year we have a lot of talent coming through and we need to see that this continues.
With our current crop I see gradual improvement this year and with some prudent recruiting next off season we should be in a position to compete for a finals berth next season.
Not all our kids will get drafted. but we can't rely on just this year's crop. We must maintain, and improve further, our development programs to ensure that we are getting greater depth in talent year by year.
That is not to say that we shouldn't also do some decent recruiting.

Yep great win.
I am not surprised that the first win has come sooner rather than later.
Keep having a go boys.
Hopefully with a win or two some confidence will come.

The best parts for mine were that we led at every change and answered every challenge. Whenever ef got within a goal after half time we responded well. And the stats all round were great, led of course by CJ. And how about Sammy Gee's game!!!!!

Not always pretty but a good sustained effort by the boys today well led by CJ with 42 touches.
The kids didn't flinch at the physical attention and they stepped up to a new level late in the game when you would have thought they would tire early but lifted themselves to secure the win.
They are getting better with every game and with a timely bye next week they can come out refreshed to take on EP and follow up against WP the following week.
CJ IMO best on ground and Garstone's effort with 4 goals and a couple of timely marks down back was important.
I liked the games of MacFarlane and McPhail who stood up under pressure in defense, and Corey Byrne is becoming a very good ball carrier thru the midfield.
It was a good team effort and there will be more wins from this group.
There were more players in the centre of the group than on the outside when they sang the song for their first win.

The kids are fantastic and I reckon the likes of CJ and Troppy will be excited to be playing alongside them. If we can get Sinclair, Latch, Bell and Jacobs in that side we can become more of a threat.
