A member of the AFL's Anti-Doping Tribunal says ASADA had told him that the AOD-9604 anti-obesity drug, central to the supplements saga at AFL club Essendon, was not a banned substance.

The Bombers are under investigation from ASADA regarding their use of supplements in 2012 and skipper Jobe Watson has admitted in a television interview he took what he believed to be AOD-9604, but he felt he had not broken any anti-doping rules.

Sports medicine specialist Andrew Garnham said on Tuesday he had asked ASADA in February 2013 about the status of AOD-9604 in his capacity as a member of the AFL's Anti-Doping Tribunal.
IT WASN"T BANNED AT THE TIME.

Geez you guys why don't you look up WADA's banned substance list it is listed as a banned substance it's there for everyone to see , there is some confusion over aod that's why ASADA aren't going to pursue it.

The media were focused on aod when it wasn't the drug in question all along Thymosin beta4 is what they are getting done for and they will receive two year bans for it.

Stuart Little is already saying he wants to end the legal battle and sit down with the AFL and WADA and work out a deal over lunch and end it. Hahaha, I hope you are right PN, they deserve no sympathy and no leniency whatsoever. I feel for the players but that is the price James Hird and Stuart Little should have to live with. They have dragged the game into the gutter and I am sick of them dominating the news instead of games played on the weekend. If we have to have a 17 team competition for a couple of years so be it, we have byes and split rounds anyway so it won't be any different.

Cronulla have just received 17 show cause notices with ten days to answer them, the blackest day in sport indeed lets see if they take it to court and try and get off on a technicality like that disgrace of an AFL club.

But what is disturbing Peter is ASADA offered them a reduced penalty. Tim Watson saida ccouple of weeks ago Essendon players were offered a 6 month ban they could have served in the off season. I wonder how Travis Casserly feels about that after copping 2 years for admitting taking a Sudafed tablet before a grand final to treat hay fever?

I watched that "half time at the footy" presentation on Casserly last year (?) and was waiting for him to say or produce some evidence that he had presented to his doctor (prior to his ASADA test) and the doctor (not Casserly himself) had diagnosed hay fever and recommended Sudafed ... but it never eventuated.

You don't need a doctor to give you a script to get Sudafed. That's why it is available over the counter. Big difference between taking a hay fever tablet and being regularly injected with peptides I would have thought.

From what I understand they are only offering reduced penalties to the players who are no longer at the club, players who are retired and play in lower competitions that still come under the Wada code.

There are 4 players that remain at Cronulla and they will get the full whack, SOO captain Paul Galen is looking at 2 years.

I reckon Essendon players have waivered any discounts by their court actions, would be funny though if Cronulla players receive discounts and Essendon players cop the full 2 year bans because of idiots like Paul Little launching legal action.

Please if you are ignorant of the facts just keep out of forums and making yourself look foolish.

The Essendon players have not have not taken any legal action at all. It is the club and Hird. If you actually followed the case you will know that the initial hearing in July was to whether J. Middleton was going to make the players party to the case.

Not trying to promote another forum but maybe you should stick with the other foamers on the HTB on bigfooty. You can all like each others comments on there.
