A warm welcome to Extinction Rebellion the socio-political movement with the stated aim of using civil disobedience and nonviolent resistance to protest against climate breakdown, biodiversity loss, and the risk of social and ecological collapse.

The new arrivals of holiday making, left wing teachers, students, children and unemployed serial activists intent on disrupting the Perth business community telling us all climate change is going to kill us all unless THEIR demands are met to achieve an impossible task, net zero carbon emissions by 2025!

Extinction Rebellion like all minority extremists, expect us the majority to tolerate their disruptive behaviour because they have a ‘belief’.

Just maybe if "climate change" and love peace and happiness is really at the top of their Agenda, rather than portraying anything and everything in Western Capitalist Democracies as the ultimate evil, they might redirect their protests to the world's greatest polluter and civil rights abuser and protest outside their embassy.

That way at least they would not be disrupting business and people having a lawful right of passage in their own business district. Add to that the considerable saving of several hundreds of thousands of dollars in police security and we have a win win all around!!!.

I would have thought a bit of excitement would be welcome in dreary old Sleep Hollow.

Heard the ring leader interviewed by Millsy and Nose this morning on 6PR. Can you believe this flog is a High School science teacher? So we are paying this flogs wages while he brainwashes the next wave of tree huggers and sympathizers for illegal immigrants. I bet my left nut he also wants mull legalized.

Have you been out of Perth for long Jack? Its not such a dreary old sleep hollow anymore.

Unless you are still living the dream in Thailand it might be worth a trip back home.

Thankfully one former State Premier recognised that Perth had fallen way behind the other major capital cities in terms of major riverside redevelopment and sporting infrastructure.

Perth can now boast that we have achieved both. A beautiful riverside redevelopment at Elizabeth Quay and the best sporting stadium in the southern hemisphere.

Quite a while now, Monsignor - about 16 years.

I do come back at least twice a year (which I always enjoy), but to be honest, my opinion has not changed over that time.

I guess living away from somewhere gives you a different perspective, and you hope that things will change.

A couple of visits ago I remember standing at the William Street end of the Murray Mall at about 11am, and thinking I could have done a Trump, and fired a bullet towards Barrack St without much risk of hitting anyone.

I then wandered up to the nearly completed (and barely opened) Yagan Square - I may have been the only one there.

Wind forward a couple of visits, and a mid-week, night-time trip into the Town Hall end of Hay St to visit a Japanese restaurant - dead as a doorknob.

Yes, I have been to the new stadium. It is very impressive, but for me was not a great viewing experience - in fact it was surreal. I felt like I was watching a game on a video screen until I slipped down to the lowest level for the final quarter. I actually prefer Subi Oval.

Whatever turns you on, I guess.

Hopefully Extinction Rebellion will make enough noise, and help open a few minds to realise the superb beaches won't be there for too many more decades, and it's gunna get bloody hotter and hotter. Pity my grandkids, and their kids.

As the preacher said this numpty who is one of the ringleaders is a teacher and yes they will be trying to brain wash their students. We already have heard some of the kids who take time off school to attend similar protests that there's no point in going to school as the end is nigh. Just another unwarranted pressure on these youngsters. I have no problem with people or groups having there say as part of free speech, but these knobs don't accept that others don't want there freedoms impinged, freedom to move about there city and streets, their freedom to drive or take a bus to work and the freedom to get to work on time so that productivity isn't affected. Go and protest in a park, down on Langley park, that will attract the fawning media and left wing commie greenies.

The only positive out of their misguided actions is that their actions will actually damage their cause, the more people they impact with their actions the less support they will get.

These idiots should be treated with the disdain they deserve. A bloke once brainwashed the youth of his country in the 1930’s and look what happened. Might not be the perfect analogy, but it shows that people can be gullible enough to follow without thought and the after effects can be devastating. The cost of what these idiots want will hurt many of our people. BTW, climate change happened about 10k years ago......
