Good, McGowan should of done it ages ago , Western Power Poles and Wires should go and Fremantle Port should be leased out post haste, rather that than smashing people with rising cost of living.

Ah Bazza it might disappoint you but according to Morrison the only ones eligible to purchase those Poles and Wires would be another government.

It is indefensible that a 109 page explanatory memorandum to a 33 page act that was written overnight in the area of energy warrants a greater debate and consultation period than more than 24 hours.

The hypocrisy of the Morrison government has no bounds. The utter gall of Josh Frydenberg to accuse the Labor Party of shutting down debate when Christopher Pyne moved time after time that the Labor Party member of the House of Reps be no longer heard yesterday. Time after time the question be put and thus limiting the debate.

The Morrison government complaining that Labor would not allow the bill (which they had given the Labor Party 1 hour before the first reading) to be considered as a whole is just breathtaking in its hypocrisy. The act is 33 pages with a 109 page explanatory memorandum.

This from a PM who said that he would do whatever it takes:

"I will fight them using whatever tool or tactic I have available to me to ensure that we do not undermine our border protection laws,"

Memo to Scott Morrison: you are not above the parliament and you should have the guts to allow the bill to be brought to the floor of the House of Reps. If you do not,you should go to the GG and tell him that you no longer have the confidence of the House of Reps.

The line is well and truly drawn for the next election. We are facing 5 months of the most disgraceful base, racist politics lead by what could be argued most forcefully as the most appalling Prime Minister Australia has ever had and that included Tony Abbott.

Hopefully, the May 2019 election will wipe the RWNJs from both houses after the next Federal election

mate...fair dinkum...PUP was a circus last time around and those you've mentioned were the clowns. He might pick up a seat or 2 in Q'land but can't see him getting others anywhere else. As for ScoMo blocking that ridiculous piece of legislation whereby asylum seekers will get transferred to Australia on the whim of a sympathetic medico and will subsequently see people smugglers back in operation in no time...good on him I say.

Let everyone be aware that the Morrison government has refused to extend the House of Reps to allow the House of Reps to consider a bill passed by the Senate and to vote on the bill relating to national security which was according to the Morrison government needed prior to Christmas.

So when Morrison and others assert that Labor is not interested in our national security remember it was Morrison that refused to allow the House of Reps to vote on that legislation.

Very telling that during the adjournment debate when Tanya Plibersek was talking there was not one Government frontbencher to be seen.

The time has come for Morrison to go to the GG and say he is not capable of running the Australian government and there needs to be an election.

We're all aghast at that little revelation Sean...the man is a cad and a bounder...how dare he? As for Tanya...maybe she's just a boring speaker...did the Labor side clear the benches as well? :woohoo:

Also when Morrison talks about Bill Shorten not having the mettle remember well that it was Morrison's DECISION to adjourn the House of Reps until February 2019. Morrison's decision 100%. Morrison could have allowed the House of Reps to sit longer to be able to vote on the essential encryption legislation needed before Christmas.

Why didn't he extend the sitting time for the House of Reps? He did it because he was afraid that his government would be the first since 1929 to lose a vote on a piece of legislation in the House of Reps. He had two choices: to allow the House of Reps to vote on what he said was an imperative for national security or to save face. Morrison chose to save face and stuff national security.

Morrison is a trinity: it is all about "me, myself and I".

BC the majority were there until the last 5 minutes of the house adjourning.

Okay for your benefit let me put it succinctly: Morrison chose to save his bacon and his embarrassment rather than to allow the House of Reps sitting later. And there are many examples where the House of Reps has sat long in to the night and the following day.

Let's not forget they also cancelled a day's session in the House of Reps during the roll of Turnbull.
