Bazza: correct -- but you can't tell the lefties.
the truth is they were kind to him -- people have to remember that had yagan been British and muredered two people, he would have been executted without a second thought.

People have watched too many American movies I am afraid. Bolte, had done a good job in this regard, pointting out how Shorten replaces Australian history with the US version to make the British settlers here look worse then they were. It is very dishonest of the left in this country.

The point I am making Ark is that the true Colonial history of our country is not being acknowledged and that includes the Aboriginal version of it. Lefties V Righties I couldn't give to hoots to their views

Dwert:

they have statues and Aboriginal place names
they teach Aborginal history at UWA
they have Aborinal welcome ceremonies at government functions and international sport events
they have Aboriginal academics whom claim that I cant write about Aboriginals because I am not their race.

Do you think this is intellectually justified?
Do you think the Germans should be the only people to write about the Nazis?

Yes it is justified in my opinion.

The English have done a pretty decent job of writing the Aussie colonial history Ark

Dwert: just don't forget the English totally -- besides the battle down South which people have written about, you will not find much. They actually withdrew the army from WA in the 1840s because the Aborinals were no threat in the colony. The last British soldiers left NSW in 1870.

Absolutely not Ark you do not need to look far for their legacy to be very noticeable.

I am thinking the red coats would have left at the time that you talk about mate because the English empires Aboriginal problem was not as serious as it was at the time of the first wave of settlers.

Dwert: Your right about the British presence being around, but even so, taken down a statue of the founder of the colony would sound a very bad signal. The other reason they withdrew the army from an NSW in 1870 was to save money. Interestingly, the people in Sydney oppossed the removal of the army because they knew it would cost them money in local taxes.

Ark by that time there was adequate local miltia forces , the British regiments were no longer needed and the main reason they were here was possible foreign incursion, France etc. Local large scale Aboriginal resistance was basically non existant.

Baz: too true -- Dont forget Putin's lot, there was a big 'Russian scare' here during the Crimean War, and later on, because, of the antagonism with the Russians over 'the great game' in India and Central Asia.
