This rubbish will reach its zenith when Shorten wins federally; it may also reach it nadir if the people reject his silly republicanism. In terms of British setlllement, I have always been thankful for it and have told people so many times.

The problem the Americans have with their statues is that like R E lee, Washington and Jefferson owned slaves, and the far-left will be after those statues in the future too.

In Barbados, mostly the kin of slaves, there is a statue to the great Lord Nelson, whom supportted slavery in his day. The people of the island have considered removing it but, thorough a combination of inertia and support for the country's British traditions, the statue has remained in place. The point is that there has been no rioting or killing ove a bloody statue as there has been in America.

I have two little statues myself:

Lord Nelson
Sir Donald Bradman

I am keeping them both, amen.

Nelson was a bit player in the slave trade, yes he ran patrols in the West Indies during the trade, but don't forget just after his death in 1805 at Trafalgar Britain was fighting to stop the slave trade in 1808, had he not won the victory and set the Royal Navy up as the worlds most powerful they would never have been able to stop the slave trade.

Bazza: yep, all true. The navy did a great job in trying to police the slave trade, Ghana, actually celebrates Britain's role in this which is good of them indeed. We should be thankful for his victory in 1805, as you pointed out Baz, because Napoleon actually re-instated slavery in France and its colonies.

If Trump said it, you should take them with a huge grain of salt

And for good reason:

With Trumpet it's a case of right place at the right time. The US economy has been a basket case since Leeman bros lead the rest of the Wall Street vandals sending the world into recession. The US is going through the natural cycle of recovery and it would have happened if the Drovers dog was president ........ actually the drovers dog would have done a better job and insulted less people.

Jack: He is not lying about the economic data:

'Real gross domestic product increased at an annual rate of 2.6 percent in the second quarter of 2017 (table 1), according to the "advance" estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the first quarter, real GDP increased 1.2 percent (revised).'

Taken from: 'the Bureau of Economic Analysis'
'US Department of Commerce'

I can assure you, that had Obama still been President, he would have been rattlling on about such economic data, the media cheering on from the side lines. Naturally, it is not all down to Trump's policies, but such figures should be noted.
