But both sides of the political Elite can play their little games. It's not restricted to one side of the fence.

And people saying we elect a Parliament to Govern, often Ignore The Will of The People, especially in this State on the Issue of Daylight Saving and the 2 Trading Hours Questions. Both Major Parties Betrayed the WA Electoate there! :pinch:

Day Light saving got the arse, didn't most want extended hours, ?

More importantly it STOPPED Hughes sending more to the slaughter en masse to France who didn't volunteer,

We have also had other referenda in Western Australia, for example, on prohibition. We votted twice for conscription in this state, perhaps they had a better understanding that the Empire simplly had to win the war?

Bazza I quite deliberately did not state my view as it is not relevant to the debate. And it is getting extremely tiresome when you keep going back to a supposed mandate when the Liberals and their coalition partner have ignored the mandate and provided the requirement for a double dissolution in 1974, refused to vote on supply in 1975, refused to support an ETS in 2007. So let's not have anymore crying"what about our mandate".

We do have a democracy. I may not always like the winning side but that is a fact of life.Further if we don't like the legislation passed (e.g.Howard's work choices) then we reserve the right to kick them out at the next election.

I am elitist am I? I come from a working class background and as I have pointed out before attended Belmont Senior High School. Hardly elitist.

She gave an interview on a Christian radio station this morning and totally lost the plot, saying the devil is the reason for the homosexuals. Once you start talking like that no one will take anything you say seriously again.

Ah yes , if we live in a democracy , lets let the people decide. Just like they did in 1975 when Gough got wacked at the ballot box.

Given she eas talking on a Christian Radio station there were probably Christians that agreed with her view, basically its a standard interpretation of belief that's been around for 1000s of years its just not commonly spoken about anymore as things that were not accepted like Homosexuality ( lets not forget that up till the 1980s it was a criminal offence in this state) are now accepted.
