As far as I'm concerned private media and private sporting orgs should be able to contract with whom ever they want to broadcast sport, the government has no place telling them what deals they can sign and what they can and cannot broadcast.

If the AFL gets the best offer it can from pay tv then its got every right to sign it. 

Anti syphoning laws are a restraint of trade.

Well salary caps and drafts are restraints of trade too so not sure that argument stands up. But I agree they the federal government should not be sticking their noses in this. I can't understand the obsession with forcing free to air TV to televise sports and worse punters to actually watch the half hearted coverage they provide. Subscription anyday for me rather than endless adds and the games the broadcaster wants you to watch.

Dafts and Salary caps are not Government imposed law, they are internal policy of a private organisation to which all parties have agreed to participate. 

Agree FTA is a substandard product.
