The Oligarch's are starting to feel the pain as their assets and offshore bank accounts are frozen and they can no longer travel to exotic places to enjoy the fruits of their dirty money. Well and truly overdue.

And finally Russia has been cut from using SWIFT effectively canceling their ability to trade and perform international transactions. Bring on the pain. That's why the little spoilt Russian brat is now threatening to use nuclear weapons. A sure sign the sanctions are working and along with brave Ukrainian resistance.

There's an interesting piece on LinkedIn where a former Estonian Defence Minister reckons Ukraine just needs to hold out for about 10 days when the Russians will start to run out of arms and supplies.  He reckons their missile stocks are low and they're firing them indiscriminately at civilian targets to put fear into people so they'll either give up and surrender or make a run for it.  Initial Russian planning expected the Ukrainians to only last 3 or 4 days.  Clearly that's not going to plan.  He's of the view the Russians will look to negotiate if they can't take control before their supplies run out. It'll be interesting to see if he's right or not.

That piece could easily be correct BC.
Putin is currently in his bunker, and reportedly upset the russian advance not going to script. The Ukranian defences have more resistance than anticipated. The russians would try to have everyone believe they are not targetting civilians and civilian targets. If that is true, do residential apartment blocks where peoples homes are attack themselves? Or what!?
Yes the next week going to be interesting.

BC  I do understand why you need to trivialise the Ukraine peoples plight with the McGowan jibes.
You and DD might not think so but after a while it does stop being funny to even the mast rabid anti McGowan critic.

Your trip to Finland may a little troublesome and require a rethink. I hope so.

Sounds similar to the articles I have read, Kiev was supposed to fall in 3 days, and the number of precision missiles is pretty limited having used them all up in the first few days, the down side is he's going to have to use much less accurate weapons causing more widespread damage.

The entire thing sounds under powered fort he resistance they have encountered, also I doubt he considered the united front NATO and the EU would present, take China and Syria out and the blokes got nothing.

Could end up a lot worse off as well, with Germany announcing a major re armament programe lifting spending above 2% of GDP  and Ukraine now almost certain to be closer to NATO.

Yes agree Baz.  The other thing which has become pretty clear to me and I hate saying it because the guy is a buffoon, but Trump was on the money when he said NATO needed to spend more on defences and stop relying so much on the US.  As you say, Germany will increase its defence budget and reckon a few other major NATO players will have a good look at their own spending on the back of all this.

Some amazing footage on CNN.A Russian patrol entering a small Ukraine town.Through the main street ,heading to the other side of town.Trying to sieze an asset..
About 20 soldiers and 4 armoured personal carriers.Walked straight into an ambush.Tried to escape but it was to late.
The latest is Belarus will enter the conflict tomorrow,Allied to the Russians. And the convoy leaving Belarus is 5km long.Supported by heavy air cover.Russian equipment and Belarus soldiers.
