Totally understand how they must feel. Governments love to make warm fuzzy comments about our "front line health heroes", but that means little to a nurse or Doctor who's done several double shifts in a row and is almost out on their feet, then expected to be there for family and partners. It's a rock and a hard place for Governments as well with the inability to find staff or in WA's case keeping the state locked tight so no outside health professionals can get in. What I found baffling is that the 2 times I've been in hospital for day procedures this year, I spoke with final year nursing student about the shortages and both time they said it's really hard to find a placement, having applied several times but no success ... just mind boggling. While it's experience people that are most needed, the newbies can take the day to day hack work off the more experienced ones to free them up to do the serious stuff. If what these young almost qualified nurses are experiencing is widespread, it's absolutely unforgivable. But getting any reasonable explanation or truth out of this state government aint gunna happen while they are electrally untouchable.
