I’m confused what you wanted Optus Stadium management to do - remove all the corporate hospitality boxes and function rooms and just sell premium seats to the public at minimum cost?

The G with 100k capacity has no tickets available to the public for the GF - everything goes to MCC members, corporate packages or AFL club member allocations.

We’re lucky 10k seats were made available. As you said it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity so demand was always going to be through the roof.

Still more likely (and cheaper) to get a GF ticket at Optus than book a summer holiday on Rotto!
The allocation to the competing clubs was far to high given the border situation , they were non local clubs and the bar code rules were broken all over the place.

and yes 27,000 allocated to corporates was on the high side for mine.

I know it's low season but just did a week at Geordie bay, 3 bed ocean view unit $1570.00. Anyway, the GF is a sell out and will be good to watch on the telly ... as usual.

I hear that there will be a late release of GF tickets this Wednesday, expect another 180,000 punters logging in for a few leftover tickets. I'll happily watch it from the couch with a few coldies, like every other year.

Thought the entire event presented far better at Optus than the MCG, the modern design allowed for a far superior light and sound show, it really showed up the MCG as a dated patch work design, it may be bigger but it’s certainly not better, the weather was great as well, the setting on river with the bridge is vastly superior as well, and I’m totally sold on a later start for the game it gave Optus a vast advantage as well with the lights setting and fireworks, thought the pre game half time entertainment was a lot better than importing some overseas hack.
The MCG a should not have the AFL GF for ever, expand Optus to its 70k and then 80k maximum and go for it.

Yep agree Baz, it was a spectacular event and Perth football fans put Perth on the map with an outstanding display of football passion which I am sure the players of both sides appreciated and made them feel at home. And even the post match music I thought was fantastic, well chosen whoever put that together and spared us listening to We Are The Champions by Queen which I find really corny.

By the way I am sceptical how they can increase the capacity to 70k without adding on and how they can increase it to 80k. Anyone been to one of those stadium tours? I believe they explain it there.

Melbourne apparently are going to stay here another 4 or 5 days according to Simon Goodwin last night so they can unwind and relax without restrictions and they’ll probably do a bit of sight seeing I’m guessing. Shame the weather will be shit.

Turn that old power station in East Perth into a bar/restaurant and the water skiing dive in Burswood into the same and that would take away the monopoly of the Camfield and improve the experience too. Maybe something WACA area too

Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Agree Time, I can’t stand the Canfield and the stupid line up fiasco, get some more venues around the area East Power station site would be fantastic as you say, for a big river side venue.

Sounds like Commonwealth Games are on the cards as well. Which would be ideal.

Looked fantastic on TV. The game and the build up was embraced by Perth in a similar manner to an American city awarded a one off super bowl. The city has been buzzing all week, culminating with the celebrating supporters in Forrest Place. The game itself was a great contest until late in the 3rd quarter when the Demons asserted their superiority and the Doggies ran out of gas in the last quarter.
