Why do you think the WA Parliamentary Committee is currently standing in the way of the reappointment of John McKechnie as Commissioner of the CCC?

Could it be because he has been a little too successful in doing his job, and is currently sitting on a radio-active laptop which is most likely going to blow up its ex-owner and former Liberal MLC, Phil Edman. Along with a truck load of his political mates who are alleged to have been involved in major hanky- panky with their electoral allowances, amongst other things?

And who in their right mind set up the system whereby the Joint Standing Committee on the Corruption and Crime Commission must agree by double majority to the reappointment, but the Committee has an even number of members - meaning just 1 of the 4 can kibosh the vote?

Something stinks to high heaven.

How I read it is one member of the committee (whom happens to be in the opposition party) and the leader of the opposition are not currently the re-appointment. Not sure why they would not be? McKechnie seems to be the best person for the job.

The Right Honourable Jim Chown has been outed the prick standing in the way of McKechnie's reappointment.

www.abc.net.au/news/2020-04-18/john-mcke...sh-analysis/12157874

A Liberal member of the upper house for the Agricultural Region ( Central Wheatbelt, Geraldton, Moore, and Roe), Chown has been in the WA parliament since 2009.

And in a detail that is sure to strike a chord here - his is a Victorian.

We can only speculate how many appearances he makes in the infamous Edman laptop. B)

I think we can do a whip around sharkie to help LS get one of those tax payer funded charter flights back HOME to Victoria. LS reason it's classified as essential travel - too many Dickheads in WA.

In a time when our state and country are doing it tough financially and emotionally it's not a time to be playing politics. Sounds like Jim Clown needs a kick up the arse and a seat next to LS (social distancing applied of course) on the next charter flight back home.

TBH I think its time for someone one new at the CCC.

McKechnie has been good but he's had his snout in the public trough now for decades, he was Supremem Court Judge that retired on a full Judicial Pension and then picked up a full judicial salary on top of that at the CCC, which is close to a Million PA Package.

Time for someone else to have a crack.

Going by the news, the WA liberals on the panel did not support his re-appointment and were not going to do so. And their numpty leader wasn't too fussed either! Going to be interesting to see what happens.

If he is effective - and McKechnie seems to have been too effective - in my opinion he is worth every cent if his organisation is weeding out corruption and misconduct in the public service, parliament, the police, etc etc.
