There has been talk recently that the Nrl season will start again on May 28.The Nrl is looking at hosting all sides in one state.Or even using an island of the Queensland coast.At this point the Nrl officials have not negotiated with state governments + there health officials.
Channel 9 Meltdown
The Nrl has yet to discuss these future happenings with Channel 9 or Foxtel,the games broadcasters.And today Channel 9 just had a meltdown. They don't want to telecast games in empty stadiums.
To add salt to the wounds.Channel 9 gave the Nrl a 50 million dollar interest free loan in 2017.To ensure the clubs had money to run and pay there players.That money is all gone without and repayments made back to channel 9.
9 has accused the Nrl board of complete mismanagement. Ignoring the clubs and players and where's the 50 million. Like news Corp and Super League will Channel 9 take over the running of the game.Or just wash it hands with Rugby League.Foxtel don't have the cash to run the game like they did in the late 1990's.

Yep...both rugby codes are a shambles in Australia. I switched off rugby union when they shafted the Force and never have been a fan of league except during state of origin when it goes up a notch.

BH the Nrl reminds me of the Vfl before Ross Oakley+Allan Aylett.

Unlike the AFL, the NRL have never managed to build up any assets like real estate or stadiums or other investments, so again, unlike the AFL they have no collateral against which to borrow money.
