Spontaneous combustion? Or do they see themselves as survivors of an imagined post-pandemic future where toilet paper becomes a universally accepted currency?
Fight to the death for bog roll
I could understand it if there was a sudden outbreak of amoebic dysentery but for a respiratory disease it makes no sense. Tissues, sure. Paper towel, all right but only for frontal use, OK?
Have we reached the stage where people who have seen too many movies of the end times, have started to think, “I’ve got a shopping trolley full of 48-packs of four-ply. With that kind of post-apocalyptic coin, I could end up being Queen of the Thunderdome where people fight to the death and the victor is swathed in bog roll.”
If people are going to firmly press the panic button, they should be aware that where there’s hoarding there will always be profiteering. An illicit distribution of scarce resources at exorbitant prices. A brown market, in this case.
The Great Toilet Paper Reckoning is upon us and it is only a matter of time before we see dodgy looking characters stepping out from shop fronts.
“Psst. I got half a roll of Quilton Soft and Sanitary. Yours for a monkey. Feel the quality.”
And don’t get me started on hand sanitisers. You might have seen them before they disappeared from supermarket shelves in a rush of panic buying. These products proudly boast that they kill 99 per cent of germs. What, like 99 per cent of bacteria? All but one per cent of microbes? The overwhelming majority of bacterium? Maybe. But they don’t kill COVID-19. You can check the label if you don’t believe me.

What saddens me to no end being all this idiotic behaviour is the best response australia has?
Anyway, toilet rolls are going to be the least of peoples problems soon!
Apparently old morrison with help from the labor party pushing ahead very quietly with the latest piece of scamming legislation which is going to hurt everyone.

I'm nearly safe as we has approx 70 rolls. Also approx 40 cakes of soap.
Toilet paper is 4 ply & all were bought when on special late last year.
To supplement also have over 30 dozen cartons of wine plus an oak cask full of old tokay..

Live close to Graylands? could be handy also.

How so? I had the worst flu season last winter but never had to spend anymore time on the throne than normal. About a month ago on the other hand had a bad bout of gastro and dry reaching, that was a different story. Ended up in hospital for about 6 hours.

DD if the hospital staff get sick through working extras, overtime, back to back shifts, get sick themselves through dealing with the overload of these viral patients, then whose gonna look after the good folk like yourself for that 6 hour stay you had?...as a health professional for 30 years, working at the coal face in A&E and ICU in Oz, UK, USA and NZ , these departments are more often then not run on there bare bones staff wise, to save the big wigs a few dollars to spend on bullshit elsewhere....under staffing and large work loads will see staff burn out through fatigue and fall sick themselves by being run down...thus my meaning no staff or unwell or burn out staff to care for these patients, means the "shit will hit the fan" for those patients presenting with their illnesses...thus the need for their toilet rolls...

I for one am dreading the winter here in NZ, especially if the corona virus kicks in as it's expected too....on top of the normal flu season prima donas with their coughs, colds, sore throats and fevers....

cold C@nt of place at the best of times.

Lots of people quit the nursing profession because the pay is rubbish and the conditions rubbish...improve the pay, the conditions and a bucket load of nurses would come back into the profession.
