Caddy,Rivers & McIntosh. The Cats have recruited very well. McIntosh is a gamble as he has struggled with injury but if fit will be a real aquisition to the the onball division. Rivers can play both ends & will be more than handy player for the Club. Caddy is only 20 & has plenty of time to develop the potential he has shown & be a quality player for 10 years. A different approach by the the Club this year... I like what they have done. They have indentified their areas that need to be bolstered & targeted players they feel will fill these roles. Go Cats!!

They will struggle to make the 8 this year, midfield is too slow now.. still good but not quick & was exposed a few tmes last year. If th eHawk doesnt kick goals then they are in big trouble.

Tend to agree. I watched one of their games on Fox the other night and thought that their future didn't look all that rosy...a lot of their driving force is getting old. I simply can't believe that one of their absolute starts in Stevie J can't line up for a kick at goal. What's this crap at lining up sideways so you kick across yourself? FFS....the coach should absolutely bollock him and tell him to go away and learn to kick properly!! It's ok to do that in the play, but from a free or mark????

The midfield has never been quick. The Cats have relied on quick, efficient & precise ball movement to overcome perceived lack of pace.Travis Varcoe missed the season with injury was the player that provided foot speed. Selwood / Bartel provide the grunt Varcoe provides the pace to break the lines & will be back for the new season. Stephen Motlop replaced him also provides great skill & foot speed. He is young however with a developng body & still learning on the job. He will be better for the experience next year. Having Varcoe back in the team allows for a Stevie J or a Chappie to move back to spend more in the forward line where they are most dangerous providing support to Tommy Hawkins. Both are great players but do not provide leg speed in the midfield. Dare i say it... Daniel Menzel will be back. This is a player with outstanding ability...hopefully can his knees hold up. Again he strengthens the forward line. Nathan Vardy provides another tall target up forward & is a very exciting prospect. He also takes the ruck role or provide relief in that department. Matty Scarlett is a huge loss. Jarryd Rivers will a least fill part of the hole he leaves. Alongwith Rivers Hamish McIntosh help fill roles within team enabling the core of developing younger players in this years winning VFL team to develop at their pace rather than be thrown in the deep end too early. That team has some very good players coming through. George Horlin Smith /Josh Walker / George Bunbury / Jessie Stringer & Shane Kersten all seem very talented players. At this stage I'm very positive about the prospects for the coming season & can only see this team pushing for upper reach final position.
