JD62, mate, the West Perth football Club Committee that comprises of paid staff and volunteered staff work bloody hard so that the West Perth Football Club is successful. If you think that the books are cooked or that the president or the CEO are lying to the members then take it up with them.

Who said anything about cooking the books, I'm pointing out that despite a large payment near the end of the season, that would not have been budgeted for at this time last year, we still made a loss.

What would have happened to the final figure if we won the 2nd semi and didn't get to host that game?

It is a pretty simple business question. It is like planning your yearly family budget on the hope that you will win 2nd division lotto in December. Very dangerous to run a business or a family budget that close to the line.

Frank Falcon, if the selectors thought Jones was ok to play that is good enough for me. Probably wanted a bigger body against Subiaco. The game played by the player they wanted to drop showed the selectors were right.

JD,

You don't play a player in a GF after just one game in round 1 and 2 games of reserves. G.F.G, the player he is referring too is Kietel, future v now no longer at the club !

I back the coaches and selection staff 100% and think they should be able to choose who they want in the team. If they thought Jones was the best option they should have the final say, not off field staff.

They were completely vindicated by the fact the player they were worried would man handle Keitel was best player on the ground. It's a grand final, you pick your best team.

Jones is only 25 years old. A senior, experienced, well liked member of the team and still had a huge future with the club. Loved the club but now he doesn't want to be here anymore and he won't be the last to leave because of this.

JD62, I think you are being a bit unfair on Jones ,to say he is leaving because he didn't get picked to play in grand final isn't giving him the credit for the strength of character he has. He isn't the only one to miss a GF spot over the years , Manzone a couple yrs ago , Charmers and Wilhelm played most of year and missed out and are still there. I think the real reason may be for family and despite what may be public opinion ,no one is ever going to get rich playing Wafl footy ,suggest the offer of coin offered in Vic may be better. So give the guy some more credit than just leaving because he missed out on a Grand final. Also give Bill a little credit as well , cannot see him being told what side to pick for any game never mind a grand final. Given the injury clouds over a couple of other players , I don't think risking Jones would have been smart.

I would have picked Jones for the GF, Kerr came back after one game. Rasmussen wasn't right, you could see that in the warm up. I can assure you blokes Jones did not leave because he had the shits on. He always maintained that if his studies could be carried over in the east with a compatible job he was going home. End of story.

Was chosing between a few of WAFL teams who showed a bit of interest, Swans, Subiaco and Perth from memory. He was told he would find it very hard to switch to another WAFL team so he decided to go to the VFL. Will head over after the Christmas break.
