Mystery… Code Blue at 20 minute mark of 2nd qtr? and on one other occasion?

Food for thought

Something we have been talking about on FB WP page and thought worth a mention and any idea's you may have for this unusual approach by the coach considering we were doing all the attacking. Some of the crowd tended to agree with the booing that was going on. Possibly from both supporters but this are the way I see it and agree with it after much thought.

The SD coach had put everyone behind the ball to try and stem the momentum WP had and the West Perth players were trying to draw them out of their defensive structure and disrupt their match plan by passing the ball around in the backline where Bill had actually dropped some players back and Swans players didn’t follow. It must of certainly frustrated the SD players who would have been confused as what to do. E.g follow Coaches instructions or pick up their men?

another theory is WP wanted to keep SD scoreless in the first half and played for that result as it would of affected the SD players Psychologically and as they say a lot of Football comes from the head.
Either way Bill out coached Harding. It makes me wonder if Harding has been outcoached by a couple of other teams e.g Perth/SF etc who have led well and been over run due to the efforts of the SD players in that last qtr and a change of match plan?

It certainly boosted a lot of stats to incredible levels when you consider a lot of them were gained when NOT contesting the ball.

Personally I didnt like it at first but came to realise their was method in our madness and it was planned. I then actually enjoyed watching our Players have a kick around with no contest. Ok ok I was waiting for that one mistake that usually turns it around and the opposition scores but it didnt happen. Great way of stopping FLOODING :( as well.

If You look at WAFL FOOTY FACTS post above it certainly created some interesting new stats. B)

and that's the sort of crap dished out which makes people turn off footy in droves. the only supporters who enjoy watching that are those on the winning side. even then, supporters only put up with it for so long.

Well you dont have a problem HR as we dont make a habit of it at WP.
I have seen it only on 2 occasions this year where it was almost full time and the scores were close. It is also a tactic used when approaching the end of a QTR and you want to go in with the lead you have on the scoreboard. That is a logical thing to do as it prevents the opposition WINNING. I have no problems with that.

Having said that though I have seen it come back to bite teams at all levels in the arse when they lose possession and the other team attacks and scores. My opinion is if you are dominating through your attacking football you continue to ATTACK!

Flooding is another part of the game we all hate as it makes for stop/start footy and is very scrappy. But then again if you a kick up at the 30 minute mark flooding your back line is a proven deterrent and prevents the opposition from controlling the game.

It certainly didnt help the game at Leederville last week as the whole 4 qtrs were Flooded :)

From what I have seen it happens a lot more in AFL footy than our Grassroots footy in the WAFL. One of the reasons our games are more entertaining to watch.

agreed it is a big problem in the afl but I guess the stakes are also a lot higher
didn't see your scoreboard was that close to put the supporters to sleep.

Cardy a few years ago at Freo Oval Souths were dominating us in the first half and in the last 5 minutes they decided to chip the ball around in the backline and left us with a sniff. This is exactly what happened. On the balance we should have lost by more than 100 points on Saturday. You wouldn't want to miss the finals by percentage due to the players not going for the jugular on Saturday.

Understand what you saying Swan42 about percentage and critical in the end.
Hell Subi only had to kick a couple more points and they would of been on top :(

Had a quick look at the Tribunal and they have a big job tonight. I did notice a couple of your key players went in the book. IMO that is shit as well as from what I saw it was a game between 2 clubs who played footy and nothing of consequence came out of it from what I saw in the game. Ok SD players getting frustrated most probably didnt help and have seen our guys do it a lot over the last few games.
Will have a look later the site for the tribunal is below.. gotta go down the page a bit

www.wafl.com.au/summary/19

Our percentage is pretty good but to be honest we have no chance of making the Finals even if we beat EF this week.. Ok mathamatically possible as it is for CLA.

Now our reserves dont have to worry about that and just have to win some games to get the 2nd chance.. this week they will go into 2nd with a Win...

Heres a look at the ladders anyway.. for anyone interested

I see we have the ABC game this week. Weather looks good so hopefully we will have a big turn out B)

Grabbed the reports which are pretty heavy this week but most will be fobbed off.
Was listening to the 91.3 game otw home down the FWY.. The commentators went off a bit on ALEX SILVAGNI Punch on Tropiano.. They couldnt believe he would of been so careless and reckoned 1-2 weeks for sure. Considering he is a Dockers player and ready to come back it will be interesting to see How the Tribunal approaches it. If it is dismissed or reprimand it will be shown they favour AFL players. :( But whats new????

Also see in Milestones Jordon Jones up for 100 games. Great achievement by Jonesy and has been a bit part of the team over those games.

Cardy shouldn't that read big.
