Just a few observations - in no particular order.
In any sense, this has been a disappointing season for West Perth.
In 2013 both seniors and reserves play in their respective Grand Finals - seniors go on to win a meritorious flag. This indicates good depth and a healthy list.
Loss of Hutchings, Salecic and Mellington was not great but given the depth in the squad, they should be covered ok.
The recruiting has been poor - Krakouer cost a huge amount of money and was not fit whilst Spencer was clearly past his best. Both gone by halfway mark of the season - this adds up to a poor return.
Seniors, reserves and colts currently all out of the final 4, with only the reserves a chance to see September action.
The club is playing without intensity and spirit - all traits that were in strong supply last year. The players appear to lack on-field direction.
Last nights Foxtel Cup display was embarrassing, but also indicative of how they have played this year - not much heart.
Dan Hunt and Tsalikis to retire at season end you would think. Keunen and Guadagnin can't be far away either.
Plenty of work for the coaching staff to do to get back on track in 2015.

Luckily we have a bit of depth with some good players coming thru.
Our colts still have a chance to play finals albeit slim

I think it is unfair to say the players lack heart and have no intensity and that is a bit of a sweeping statement. I am convinced every player runs on and gives there all.

We certainly need a target up forward that is a priority. Another Mid fielder or two handy and we could have them in the reserves.

FM like yourself and many WP supporters I am at a complete loss as to why we are losing games we should be winning with the lineup on paper.
I went to both the Subi and SD games expecting a win.. Not so?

I am sick of hearing this Premiership hangover crap as that has nothing to do with it.
Must admit Hutchy,Mellington and Sala were big losses and it appears bigger than we thought but as you say mate we seemed to have those bases filled.

Oh well we can only see out the season and hopefully get a win or two. I am sure next year will be a better year for the club. Have heard a couple of possibles including Kepler etc but will wait and see.
At least we got the Last true WAFL flag... teams making the finals will just go through the motions and sure EP will win a couple straight similar to 2000 - 2001 so unless the WAFC makes major changes it makes you wonder if it is worth the effort.

Kepler will be delisted this year, as will Jordan Lockyer from Sydney......spend your 40K on getting Josh Smith back and a few of his EP buddies in Moss, Anderson and Lee.......rumour has it Lee especially is unhappy at EP

Subi won the last flag before the invention of the WCE, is what he means!.....the WAFL has never been the same since 1986.........I cant think of one premiership side post 86 that would of beaten one premiership side between the years of 1980 - 1986......even the 3peat Subi side would of struggled to get within 5 goals of any of those 1980 - 86 premiership teams......didnt Neesham fill those original Freo spud teams with his flag winning post 86 CL WAFL players in Muir, Delaney, Leach, Gilbert etc etc?.......

I actually meant the last Grand Final before the ALIGNMENT PART 2 :(
We went in definate Underdogs against the stacked EP side with 8/9 EP Eagles.
Leaves a bit of hope for a G7 club to win again but this time they will be going up against at least 15 Eagles and possibly more.
The Eagles will be happy as they will be PLAYING ON THEIR HOME GROUND..And the WAFL side will be playing on unfamiliar territory.
Oh well maybe not playing in front of 25000 people will make the EP Eagles feel uneasy?
(yeh they had 25,000 at a Eagles home game a couple of weeks ago lowest crowd ever... In fairness it was a wet and wooly night. Cant get wet at a footy game can we?

My apoligies to Chris Pike on speaking of the Alignment again :P OOPS SORRY CHRIS you did say on WAFL World a few weeks ago the media were instructed by the WAFC not to call it that as it is an AFFILIATION... So the 2 AFL clubs are NOT aligned but affiliated with the 2 ex WAFL clubs..
