Allan Melvyn "Mel" Whinnen MBE (born 6 October 1942) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the West Perth Football Club in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL) from 1960 to 1977. He also played 14 interstate and carnival games for Western Australia. In total, Whinnen played 371 games for West Perth, a league record, playing in four premiership sides and finishing runner-up in the Sandover Medal on two occasions, as well as winning West Perth's best and fairest award, the Breckler Medal, on a record nine occasions. He was inducted into the West Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2004.

Yep and I see Mel is still coming to current games. A Legend.
He is travelling well still. Havent seen Bill lately but might have missed him. There are a few others as well including John Duckworth who I havent seen this year but he has turned into a Grey Nomad so most probably heads North in the winter. Always see him up at Bruce Rock at the Vets bush bash there every year. He was a Vietnam vet amongst other things.
So many around. Craig Smoker assistant coach at WP always good to see him as loved his footy. Will leave it at that but great to read Ron Heads articles as usually gives a heads up on where all these Legends are

I make sure I say hi to Mel every week at the footy, he has a big grand stand named after him but he still carries his chair in every week and sits on the scoreboard hill, champion bloke too !
