From an on field perspective we are confident about the season ahead. Certainly being the reigning Premiers makes us “the hunted” and it is something the coaches and players are well aware of. We have great depth within the club which was demonstrated by our Reserves also playing off in the Grand Final. It’s also important to note we had the youngest reserves team in the competition in 2013. Expect to see Matt Johnson, Kris Shannon, Brayden Antonio, Corey Chalmers, Drew Rohde, Jack Thrum and James Embley all push for senior selection early in the season.

Other notable additions to the squad are:

Marcus Adams - 20yr old key position player ex SDFC

Ben King - 21yr old half back player from Gingin

Seva Martin - 22yr old ruckman from Subiaco

Ben Jenkins - 19yr old ruckman/key position from Toodyay

Corey Higgins - 21yr old midfielder from Toodyay was from Perth FC

Tamati Young - 22yr old forward from New Zealand

Tamati is an interesting proposition. Tamati has represented New Zealand at an AFL International Carnival having progressed through the junior u20 national team. He has recently shifted to Perth to experience Australian Rules Football at a more professional level and is living locally in Butler.

The signing of Andrew Krakouer for 2014 and 2015 is wonderful coup for our club and will add significantly to our team both on and off the field. Andrew has recovered well from a knee reconstruction in 2011 and played 19 senior games in 2013. Players of Andrew’s experience and skills are of a rare breed. A Sandover and Simpson medalist in the WAFL, we welcome Andrew back to WA and to West Perth.

We have also signed Todd Bryant (midfielder from Wodonga) and Mathew Spencer (Swans 2010 Premiership player). Frank has gone to Salariaco, Mello has headed back home and Alex Alessio has jumped ship to Claremont.

Thanks guys for the updates. Some interesting recruits. Especially Tamati from New Zealand. Should field a strong team next year.
Disappointing to see Stockley go.

Yes I have to agree .... a very good looking squad at Joondy for 2014 ..... strange "swapping" Martin for Stockley .... I believe Frank to be a better prospect around the ground easily

So did Subi but big Seva is developing slowly don't write him off just yet - He was looking good before he got injured last season and although not too nimble he's one big unit and will give 100%. I was sorry to see him go.

He's also probably a bit further behind in his development than Stockley ? Time will tell ???

There is an update on the ins & outs on the WPFC site, no mention of Bryant at the club nor Frank leaving the club, Spencer will fill the roll that Pedders had last year.
