Josh Mellington has requested to be Traded back to Victoria

Josh Mellington has asked Fremantle to be traded home to Victoria after failing to lock down a regular game in his three years on the Dockers list.

Mellington, 20, from country Victoria, was a third-round draft pick in 2010 but has struggled for opportunities at Fremantle, who boast a large pool of talented small to medium forwards.

Mellington starred for West Perth in the WAFL this season, kicking 34 goals in 20 games and playing a key role in the Falcons' premiership.

It will be shame to see him go if Fremantle allows him to move on

Personally I think Craig Nelson is a little too old to be drafted.


Raponi told a prospective new sponsor last week that he is hoping for EP/Peel players to be transfer free and cost 1 cap point in the new alignment rules.

They have already signed one top line EP product from the grand final team and if the new rules come in he expects at least another half a dozen to follow him. He told the sponsor that EP players have been contacting him all year and they are in a position to pick and choose which players they want to fill needs.

I doubt this will be the case and if it is the wafl will become even a bigger circus.

Under that system you quote the best of Peel and East Perth players would only go to the powerhouse clubs...doubt very much if free transfer to the club of your choice comes in.The bottom clubs wouldnt get a look in...they would get the scraps.
You might be right with the 1 point per player from those clubs coming in but the rest...rubbish!!

Yep they have already put in a big fine if you approach any players from these clubs without going through the club. See

They will make the rules up as they go to suit their purposes and prevent players leaving en masse
even from the Ressies and Colts.
I know we have EP reserve player who is about to sign the line because he is moving up to the Northern suburbs. Looks ok from what I saw of him.

Its going to be a Farking mess the whole alignment.
With the Alignment in SA they have been TOLD by the AFL that they will not play their Grand Final after the AFL Grand Final as the AFL Grand Final will be the last GF of the year so the SANFL will play the same weekend as the WAFL.

If this EP player is already signed then tell us a name.........6 others to come as well christ 4 a team who had both senior sides in GF's obviously not much confidence in the current list improving then? You lost me when u said Nelsons name was Craig!......didn't he retire 10 yrs ago.........give us names if u can't obviously WP are doing something shady then.....poaching feral players too......I thought u guys were premiers this year?

Craig Nelson would have retired nearly 20 years ago from WP freeze ..I remember him starting out at WP in 82/83!
