They broke with tradition when they changed their moniker from the Cardinals to the Falcons. West Perth Football Club trading as the Joondalup Falcons. Will be called Joondalup in the media and by the WAFL but supporters and members can call them what they like. The younger generation growing in the Joondalup and surrounding areas will relate to the name Joondalup without the fuss of the old garlic munchers.

Gee can we have their old ones for Leederville, anything would be better than the half-arsed ones we have currently, barely training lights. Wonder who's paying for their new lights?

As much as I dislike all things WPFC, you have to give credit where it's due when you consider the club almost had to shut its doors and turn the lights out a few years ago, it now seems to be on the right path with renegotiated terms on bar and social club, running profits year on year and on-field doing pretty well too. Well done to all involved.

VenuesWest facility so you’d presume the majority of the funding would have been received from the State Govt via Dept Sport & Recreation annual grants.

Yes the Joondalup Falcons have certainly landed on their feet, but how they’ve done it is open to conjecture. It’s was interesting to read how according to Bazza, the Bulldogs receive a seemingly paltry. 10K from a caterer who have exclusive rights to their clubs licensed premises,so how that could accelerate a club back to a sound financial footing in such a short space of time is anybody’s guess?I recall in the early eighties Mal Atwell was forced to implement a player firesale, and around a dozen premiership players were moved on to new homes,ie.Steve Curtis,Larry Kickett, Paul Arnold,Michalzyk etc.although salary cap relief wouldn’t help as much nowadays as it’s pretty low as it is,but we did suffer on field as a result for many ensuing years, although the dwindling strength of our metro zone didn’t help either.

How can Leederville get some of that action? The Dept of Sport and Rec have their offices next to the EP clubrooms. Given Leederville is seen as the best option for the 2022 GF after Optus, it should be in the space to get some funding for proper lights.

JL: Highgate primary is bursting at the seams. They don't have footy goals close by. They have half a  set at Perth oval. East Perth should donate a plastic set, at least.

We could provide a set of goals but will they use them?Mnt Lawley high school had goals close by and according to my son, most kids at their lunch break were playing basketball or soccer. As a kid growing up in the EPJFC council in the 70’s, East Perth Highgate and Maylands, were formidable junior clubs, but they’ve been defunct for at least 30 or 40 years.

RL with my grandsons playing Ballajura juniors, last 3 years.Have been involved in East Perth Juniors.
Mt Lawley /Inglewood is the largest EP Junior Club .Allmost 3 full teams in each age group.
New Hamer Park Clubrooms + Cafeteria.Former Stirling Mayor involved.
Hundreds of fans watching Saturday mornings. Was told on a Friday night fixture last season. The cafeteria took 10k on a Friday night.
