Did East Perth build their club rooms at Leederville or were they already there, I assume built by the TOV for WP previously. I think i saw some old vision of game at Leederville in the past where those seats were red and blue. East Perth moved into Leederville before Subi right?

I can’t imagine East Perth had the coin to build those facilities, back then they were broke.

They are the original WP clubrooms but were fully refurbished for EP, I think the WAFC/state government paid for it after soccer booted EP out of Lotons. From memory they move there prior to Subi. Subi paid for their clubrooms and some extensive refurb under the old grandstand for changerooms gym etc, they lease the land under the social rooms from Vincent but own the building.

East Perth moved to Leederville for the 2000 season and Subiaco were joint tenants from 2004.

All correct. EP played at Leederville from 2000 but didn't officially move until 2003? After EP's 1999 dreadful season (would've been last if not for Peel - and back then that counted as a wooden spoon) was blamed on disruption to the pre-season by Perth Glory being there, they made the move.
And of course in the meantime there was still debate on whether or not Leederville would become the state's rectangular stadium, but after a lot of disgruntled residents complained, it firmed up as Perth Oval.
So EP were compensated with some money spent on Leederville, but it was a quick and dirty job,

Alahoy, from memory the Govt/WAFC spent about $400k on the refurb back then which in todays money would be at least a mill but it was in pretty decrepit condition at the time.

Jjim, Subiaco’s colts were based out of Leederville well before the whole club moved there? AFL too precious about wear and tear at Subi oval from memory causing the move - think it was around midto late 90s and before EP had relocated to Leederville?

TT WCE did train on there and had the surface redone to better match shitty muddy Vicco grounds, hence why Leedervilles surface is so bad by mid season and after any rain, made worse by 2 clubs training and playing on it every week of the season. WC should have been made to revert it back to the old sand base rather than the current clay/mud base that just doesn't drain.

www.perthnow.com.au/news/wa/west-perth-f...-approval-c-13788825
The funniest part of the article was how the clueless CEO McCarthy, has the gall to criticise the Joondalup councillors for their ignorance relating to the WAFL traditions, but they have a better grasp of what has been the cornerstone of the 130 year old competition, and that’s the local junior clubs which are the backbone of any WAFL club, and the club name which is reflective of the region. The simpleton also tries to draw parallels with the Perth and Subiaco f.c. locations with the Demons who still draw players from the same inner city region they’ve had for over 60 years,as well as Subi  with their old adjoining areas.Does McCarthy understand that his club draw players from Edgewater,Quinn’s Rock,Kinross, Joondalup,Ocean Ridge etc.and that West Perth area is now an East Perth zone,so the Joondalup city councillors have every right to put caveats on any sponsorship deal, and Zempilas and Paul Murray who tried to bring this naming issues to a head a few years ago, raised something which is a no brainer, but still continues to fall on deaf ears.

I think  the CEO of West Perth should get his facts right. Perth's home ground is not located in East Victoria Park  but rather it is in Lathlain which up to about forty years was a part of the Vic Park suburb just like Burswood used to be Vic Park.

Secondly the club did not leave their oval and the fact that Perth is not part of their zone is due to the changing boundaries that has evolved as Perth has become a big city.

Thirdly Perth did change their name to Vic park..This i found on Wikapedia  to reinforce my hazy memory.
During the war years Perth continued to be prominent, finishing third in each of 1916, 1917 and 1918, but following the end of the war Perth (or Victoria Park as they were known  in 1934  and  1935 )

What is West Perth scared of?
