First of all I have to say, that the apartment block that has gone up on the west side, hugged up to the grandstand has shaded the dug outs, there’s no sun, it’s all shade. All shade from the North West to the South. The only sun is the south east and there is bugger all spectator area there. Don’t get me wrong, the clubs premises are fantastic but for the spectators that like to sit in the sun, it’s fucked. Today’s game. Zak Patterson took a number of tough pack marks, this bloke is AFL now. Tom Medhat, another player that will go into the AFL. Tyson Moulton, good game off the backline and Dean Munns, he’s like glue, you can’t shake him off. What impressed me today was the runoff from the backline and the tall forwards taking strong pack marks in the forward line. Sorry Mike Lourey, you bullocked you way through the packs, but you’re kicking was atrocious even though you kicked a ripper goal from deep in the pocket. Liked Trent Manzone, he just gets out in the open and has a definitive kicking style. Blake Wilhelm has lifted and has to be a regular. The usual blokes, Nelson / Black / Shannon worked hard as link men around the ground. Good game from Sam Rotham and Conner West. Said hello to Matty Lloyd, watched him in the seconds, very classy payer. West Perth don’t have any ex AFL players, but we have got a bloody good crop of talent that some will go into the AFL system.

Totally agree it’s a stupid set up. Blocks of apartments creating a ring around the ground with everyone’s balcony overlooking.

Who decided that would be a good idea? Already created controversy last year when Gerald Ugle was heckled by a bunch of yobbos from a balcony who don’t even pay admission.

Apparently there are many who believe a good job has been done with the redevelopment at Claremont Oval. By the sound of it, all the Wafl grounds could eventually be similar. Fairly certain that Bassendean Oval is still going ahead with the same sought of planning. I don't particularly like what's happened at Claremont Oval, but the state Government, big business and councils are all making a lot of money from it. Going by the above posting, sounding like the same type of development happened at the Arena.

Thanks for the report Winger. I wasn't able to get to this game but other reports I heard were very glowing of the boys effort and its a good lead up to the Swannies game next week. I hope Patterson can be that focal point we need up forward this shortened season. We at least look like we will be competitive once again considering our off field constraints, I like the idea of a predominant locally based side, that could work in our favour.

$ubi are stand outs once again by the looks of their relatively easy wins in their two outings but the rest of the comp should see some tight entertaining games with a bit of luck. I would see us winning 3 or 4 games with a possible Finals birth with all things going well.
