Are any of you Perth followers old enough to remember a fellow named Kelvin Payne? He came over from Footscray and played at Perth 1969/70?

Yeah thanks Beas, I did have a look at Ric's site to make sure I got the name right. Reason I ask is because big Kel gave me the biggest shit mixer in my entire life. 1973/4 at Mt Newman (in those days) I took a mark at chb, saw the chf leading wide and though yep I'll hit him on the tit. I didn't see and no one called him on my hammer. He got me and buried me with the biggest tackle you could imagine. I was a skinny wiry bloke then, but Kel was a huge solid man with legs bigger than Jack Sheedy. Every bone in my body ached for a week!! He was a real gentleman.....off the field!!

Yep, a blast from the past. I remember him. Was a very solidly built lad. I think he came from Gosnells or Kelmscott but I can be corrected. I think he was only about 17 when he came to the club and only played a handful of league games. I don't recall him going to the VFL.

He was married to my cousin for a while. I wasn't old enough at the time to remember him playing but he's at most Perth home games. Loves a drink on a hot day and goes alright on the party pies at the Past Players as well. He's got some ripper stories about this Newman footy exploits.
