What a bunch of fkn pussies. So according to Duffield's article on Code Sports Zac Mainwaring sledged 18 year old Oscar Hine-Baston for not getting drafted and that's ok, then dobs him in to the umps for sledging back. Weak as piss.

And Harry apparently out of frustration with a Claremont player laying on top of him said "get off you faggot". What a bunch of pussies. More like Pussycats instead of Tigers. Can't wait until we play the Pussycat Dolls at Petticoat Junction.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

Yes, I don’t think Claremont will earn any admirers with this petulant behaviour. Changing times, I guess, what happens on the field no longer stays there. I would like the WAFC to issue an approved list of topics about which players may be sledged. Maybe it could extend to fans too.

What is inexplicable about all this is why players would bother with this sort of stuff in a practice game which means absolutely nothing. Sledging an opponent during a scratch match means that the player is not focusing on what he should be doing which is practicing his game skills and getting to know team mates style of play and coaches game plan. Same with guys who deliberately hit someone during these games. For Example Powell -Pepper and the St Kilda player in the AFL.

Agree that it's silly to do physical stuff that will attract a suspension. But I would assume that HQ would never have dreamed that the Claremont guy would go out of his way to report a generic insult. I get it that the WAFL, like most places, is sensitive about comments of that type. But players taking it on themselves to report it... maybe that's something we'll have to get used to from now. I might add, Mike, that the two players referred to in the article, are fringe players pushing for a spot in the league team, so they are keen to impress and might go a bit harder than someone who is a lock for the starting team.

Crikey, what would the penalty be if he called him something offensive? According to Taylor and Francis Group of linguists, a “faggot” is a term used by the British Army to describe a person who is hired temporarily as a dummy soldier to make up numbers at a muster. Maybe that’s why he called the bloke a faggot. Maybe the bloke was a fill-in to make up numbers. Perfectly reasonable surely.
