Stubbs , Poole, Phillip and Haywood playing Ressies today. Up by 9 points 21 minute mark of the 3rd.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Full time.
5 point loss.
Carey looks to be injured again (as in not playing Ressies or League)

Byrne leading the League out.

A bit to like about the league team today. Down by 3 goals at quarter time but then matched Claremont for the rest of the game to run out winners but 11 points.
Constable, Simpson and Clarke showed that they will fit in very well. Thompson played ressies today but he still to come into the side.
I liked the look of Josh Edwards. Did very well on ball and around the ground. Big H 5 goals ? I think, but no-one would recognise him. Trimmed down and formed a formidable twosome up forward with Clarke.
Avery superb in the backline and Aussie Davis showed a lot of his trade mark run and carry, and delivery by foot was very good.
Early days so not getting too carried away atm but the hard run and the commitment to 100% effort was commendable.
WCE next week so will look forward another strong effort.

Yes a scratch match only and plenty of players missing from both sides. No team lists available so I only recognised a few Claremont players Bailey Rogers, Alec Waterman and Zac Mainwaring.

We had several missing. Schlensog carrying a bit of a knee injury, Taylor, Johnston and Ewing so our backline lacked experience and height but Avery was a rock.

Aaron Clarke and Quartermaine looked good, Clarke was impressive with his marking but struggled for accuracy but I'm confident that will come. Harry was most impressive and continued on from his intraclub display last week. I think he kicked 4.1 and had a hand in at least 2 others.

Constable looked great and Simpson got better as the game wore on. Most impressed with Josh Edwards. Reminds me of John Gavranich. Rock hard fit with a great work rate. Pencil him in for round 1. Cachard I thought was impressive.

Stubbs played two's as he is grossly unfit. Was impressed by the Hall brothers and Watson in the two's. Great to see Jaiden Hunter at the game though wish he was playing for the Bombers.

Final score P 11.6 (72) def C 8.13 (61)

Agree with the player comments of Smokey and DD.

Cachard and Hine Baston from Colts last year look like they may be round one locks. Baston in particular he is a real athletic type and certainly seemed to get under the oppo's skin having a long and fiesty scuffle just prior to half time. Cachard may be fighting for a spot against Haywood who kicked 2-3 in the Ressies.

I have never thought too much of Aussie Davis - but he was excellent yesterday. Has locked down that wing position. Gets a lot of the ball and kicking was good - excepting one under strong pressure.

Talking about the Wing position. Baxter Phillip playing Ressies yesterday, Manzone and perhaps Gray (who is no star but an honest player - I wonder if his strength and conditioning numbers have increased significantly) would probably fit the other wing.
Baxter and Manzone to perhaps go closer to their best.

Remaining player from Ressies yesterday was Poole - who I think would come in.

Other players
Coniglio great intercept mark
Byrne - Led the team out - looks like he needed the run.
Preston-Coates - good size
Constable - will be better for the run.
Hill - won't be dropped on ability.
Sing - Solid #7

Can someone tell me who rucked when Edwards didn't

Other
4:10 a nice time to start.
Good crowd for a scratchy
A-J has a hamstring - says he will play next week. Edwards way out in front for number one ruck man now though.
Avery is Sinclair 2.0

How far is Ewing away hasn't played in over a year now -

No 59 Joseph Chaplin took the centre bounces while Edwards rested. 194cm so not the answer. I thought Gregor Taylor rucked well in the ressies and 203cm same as Edwards.

Spoke to Ewing in January he said he hoped to be ready by about round 4. Suffered 3 significant leg injuries in the same incident last pre season.

Austin Davis is a very good player gets a heap of the ball and has great run.
Only down side has been his disposal.
If his disposal is improving he will go to another level.
And some Colt's names mentioned here.
Over the moon about comments regarding HQ, at last we may have 2 key forwards.
I think we are in a good space.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
