The club announced today that Dakota’s number 19 jumper will be retired indefinitely in his honour. It was revealed he was committed to returning to the club after his year off and had asked the club to keep his number 19 available for his return.

I had hoped for something like this and I would like to see an award named or renamed in his honour. Perhaps the best clubman award to be the Dakota Baldwin-Wright best clubman award would be appropriate for this very popular lad. His family posted in the death notices today in the West Australian.

We are going to miss this gentle giant but we have to appreciate that we got to know him. Will never be forgotten.

Might have to bring a box of Kleenex to the first game against Subiaco at Lathlain Park. It’s going to be a very emotional day. I hope Ch7 cover this game. 

Agree DD, some form of recognition would be very appropriate. I think a minutes silence at all round 1 WAFL games would be a fitting tribute because when it comes down to it, every team would have had some contact with Dakota as an opponent. Such a terrible thing to happen to a young lad embarking on a holiday. My heart goes out to his family.

DD, I agree with your sentiments. His #19 jumper will be retired indefinitely. 
Looking at the Awards, most are named and I would be very reluctant to re-name many of them.
Perhaps the Redlegs 1% Award for the league could be considered for change to Dakota Baldwin-Wright 1% Award could be one, or the Players Player Award could be another.
Perhaps also his name could be added to the #19 Locker
