Made the effort to get to, the AGM last night.
Lots of positives.
Profit only $6,800 odd but:
Income up over $361,000 significant increases in Sponsorship & Grants.
Over $266,000 extra spent on Football Operations. Full Time Coach, Womens Football and Development being the beneficiaries.
When considering the on-field performance and reduced crowds at games a very positive result.
Four new life members, Wayne Koch, John Matthews, Michael Sinclair and Greg Bennett.
Congratulations to all of them.
Special recognition for Kochy and John Matthews.
The amount of work these two do around the club is immeasurable.
As for the recruiting well that, has just been fantastic.
We have been given some concessions after pushing for some when the WCE were given theirs.
AND AT LAST, we are using them for the first time.
And wisely, with unused salary cap money from last year being utilised for 2024 per WAFL rules.
At last, we are finally playing the game a Professional Club would do.
AND RIVAL SUPPORTERS please note.
All Salary Cap expenditure is being ratified by the WAFL.
A long process which may explain some of the delays in announcement of our signings.
So don't expect any breaches.
At last, some "A" grade recruits.
In fact, 5 in the last 2 preseasons with 4 this year.
And recruiting to needs.
Unheard of.
Great work from the recruitment committee and the Board who are obviously seriously giving them the resources.
The call has gone out to all to get behind it and pay for it.
Huge expectations for the years ahead.

I have been saying it for some time "build it and they will come".
Re-iterated last night the sleeping giant may awaken, and the hordes of DEES fans may just come out of the woodwork.
Our goal is simply to become the powerhouse we once were.

Fixtures received by Clubs for comment before finalisation.
If I read the hints correctly we may well get a chance in round 1 to break a long standing hoodoo.

Have taken full membership for 2024 and made a vow to spend the petrol money for every home game.

Sorry to be so long winded but there are some exciting times ahead.

Great post DF and thanks for the info. Yes I heard some noise was made in regards to WCER concessions. Good to hear it's paid off and good to hear the club is inviting the commission to ratify our player contracts. Smart move, last thing we want is egg on our faces like the two Freo clubs coming back to bite us in the arse and undoing all the good work. Let's be professional, on and off the field.

Looking forward to meeting club legend 2024 Mal Day during the season. What a champion backline that was and he was a key part of it. No 21. And congratulations to the new life members. Thoroughly deserved.

After the turgid horror of last years three hour AGM with pillow fights over forms of membership, having to fkn line up on one side of the hall or the other for a count, Barra falling asleep etc, what a joy this one was with a room full of hope and optimism. Always the best time of the year to be a Demo, full of expectation and dreams. Normally gets snuffed out by round 3 but next year might be different.

Great summary DF but one thing I'd add that was said last night: be patient, we are coming from a mile back. It'll take time to gel with a third of the team turned over, colts coming in. Probably the first time in decades we don't have a heap trying out for list spots.

I do wish you boys well, it's well overdue, (not against us though) but can you please stop predicting the end of the shit show, finals will happen this year and we have finally got our stuff organised??

I've heard that for 50 years.

Just let things cool and when you're 7-1 or 10-2, then go for it.

$7,000 profit by the way is half of what my school raised in 2 days for Movember!! Clubs won't survive with that kind of financial statement. Better than a loss yes but c'mon boys.

Oh, 50 years you reckon? Close, but 45, and we have suffered every one of them.
The profit is not the big thing Doggie. It is the spirit of our proud club, from our Presidents, Boards, Sponsors, Members and a sleeping giant cohort of unknown Demons supporters out there that have carried us year in and year out through so many disappointments. Wait until you see them appear.
As a great man once said, "build it and they will come". We do not under-estimate the task ahead, but we do have faith that those steering our new ship are on the right course.
Watch this space.
