With very little to crow about as usual, it was great to see this story in The West about Haydn and Jordan Busher
Perth brothers Haydn and Jordan Busher on emotional first game for Demons together
 

It might be cliché to label the first time brothers Haydn and Jordan Busher stepped on to a WAFL field together as fate.But after near misses in 2019 and 2021, while playing for opposite teams, it’s hard to describe it any other way.Now at Perth, the pair had been set to be opponents when Haydn’s Claremont met Jordan’s East Perth in 2019, but the former injured his calf in the lead-up.Then last year Jordan was forced to miss for West Coast when they played Perth, not long after his brother had returned to Lathlain Park, where they’d both played colts.They finally shared the field last Saturday when Jordan, 27, played his first game for Perth after being a late inclusion for the Demons ahead of their match against Claremont.It was an emotional game for the pair with their late father Steven, who died in 2017, in their hearts.“It was like a dream come true, to be honest. It’s a little bit of a blur, it went so quick,” Jordan said.“We lost our Dad in 2017, we all grew up watching Perth, playing in development squads and all that, so it would’ve meant a huge thing for him. It was an awesome and emotional experience.“When I was at East Perth we had the chance to play each other and he did his calf in the captain’s run and then I got injured when I was at West Coast when we would’ve played Perth, so it was almost like fate.”



Haydn, 30, said playing alongside Jordan would be something he’d reflect on when his career was over.“Even six months ago or a year ago I would have never thought it was going to happen,” he said.“It’s a long-time coming, but it’ll be something nice to reflect on once I’m finished.“The place (Perth) is important to our family and to be able to play together, I think of all our other achievements, I’d say this is what Dad would be most proud of if he was able to be there to see it.”



The Busher brothers will play pivotal parts alongside Kristian Cary in helping Perth get their season back on track, after fellow forwards Fraser McInnes (Achilles) and Sam Stubbs (leg) went down with an injury in back-to-back games.Jordan kicked two goals on debut for the Demons, while Haydn is coming off 16 touches and a goal against the Tigers.“Once again we’ve had some crucial injuries ... looks like it’ll be me, Haydn and Cary this weekend,” Jordan said.

To answer my own question, the West says Ajang has a knee and Ainsworth a foot injury. Not known how long they will be out.

Excuse me if I’m missing the bleeding obvious but…Ajang out, Baldwin-Wright named as an emergency but not named in the reserves. Can anyone explain?

he’s named as an emergency. I’d say they’ll wait to see if he’s ok to play after last week’s manflu, and if he’s good to go he will come into the side otherwise he’ll sit out again.

Personally i don’t think it’s the week to bring him back with the weather being what it is.

If it is a covid issue DBW is unlikely to play. Jordan Busher named in ruck and Clayton Giblett on the bench.
I forsee Gibba will pinch hit in the ruck as relief.

Every week there is someone out and someone in but the results never change. We are in games for a while to keep us long suffering supporters interested but the results are always the same. I am rapidly losing interest in the WAFL.
