Hope this ok to post here Southerner, I did put it on the WAFL General chat, but think it may be quickly swallowed up with the WAFL starting up today.

Sadly Ooslumbird passed away today after a long illness. Oos was a passionate SF and WAFL fan, who was well known on Footy Goss and Oz Footy for his plethora of WAFL stories.
 
RIP Oos, I for one enjoyed your company when visiting Melbourne mate. Oos loved a beer and loved a punt, condolences to the family.

Gee. That really is sad news Freez. I too enjoyed swapping posts with the bird and although I never actually met him, thought he was a really nice person on here. A great shame and my thoughts and best wishes to his family as well.

Terrible sadness to hear a passionate WAFL veteran has left us , the previous owners of the site will also be quite upset as he was a moderator - we are losing some very fine people at this moment and it's hard when good ones go

That is very sad to hear Freeze. Passionate Wafl follower and have read many of his wafl stories. Hoping his stories stay preserved. A huge loss and condolences to the family.

Thanks for the sad news. I was glad to be able to help out him in contact with a player for a story a few years back.

Shocking news. RIP SF man. 

Ooslumbird, (Ron Head) was a prolific WAFL historian who wrote a large number of player bios for this site and others. Quite often when a great player passed away, Sadly Rons time came recently passing away in Melbourne.

An incredibly knowledgeable writer formerly with the WAFL press gallery I think Sunday Independent or Sunday Times.

He was involved in the very early days of WAFL onlite chat forums at Footygoss before moving across to here and running the WAFL footy tipping for many years.

RIP Oos.
