It's a friend's 60th birthday and it's become a bit of an unwritten tradition that when someone we travel with has a birthday ending in a zero, that person chooses where we all go. She picked a cruise from Venice to New York for her 50th. Another mate chose Lake Como for his 50th then Madrid for his 60th. We were living in Beijing for my 50th so didn't go anywhere and I chose a cruise from Santiago to San Francisco for my 60th. It just mixes things up a bit.

Like sport like spending years in a tertiary institution all the theory and practice in the world is not the same as the real thing. When was the last time China fought a war? Japanese ate them for breakfast. The Chinese have two things going for them size and numbers but they ain't got experience. They wouldn't know which way to look if the shit hit the fan. The yanks live and breath it and are constantly involved with REAL conflict. Never underestimate that.
