After London's huge fire last year we have another in Melbourne. Obviously nothing learnt after London or Victoria's state government just DUMB. Reports of about a thousand suspect claddings in Australia. Still NOTHING done. to remove this product before a major incident.

Guys there is something being done, first thing was to survey all recently built or renovated buildings to identify the offending cladding, this is a massive but essential first step, secondly there have been numerous industry PD events to highlight the issue and what the solutions are and thirdly, the NCC (national construction Code) which incorporates the BCA (Building Code of Australia) are being reviewed and amended along with the relevant Australian standards to ensure these sorts of claddings are never used again.
The problem stems mainly from China where the vast majority of these panels are manufactured, they get around our normally strict compliance rules by bribing locally accredited certifiers to stamp these panels as compliant. This can only be stopped by any cladding imported from these regions having to undergo Australian based compliance testing which will mean these panels will be more expensive and not as attractive to import by Builders and developers. Some builders also have a lot to answer for as some have been substituting properly compliant panels as specified by the Architects or Building designers with dodgy crap from China just to save a buck. These cowboys need to be removed from the industry asap.

As you stated they were to check the compliance & this building was found non compliant BUT later changed to compliant. Obviously there may be corruption here & NOT China..
