Armed police are at the scene of a siege in Embleton amid reports a woman in a house has been threatened.

Police were alerted about 9.45am that a man and a woman were in a house in Collier Road and that the man may have threatened the woman.

The Embleton Primary School in Collier Road has been locked down.

There are unconfirmed reports the man may have a gun.

Tactical Response Group officers are at the scene.

A section of Collier Road has been closed.
