Just announced that KEEFE & THOMAS from Collingwood have been stood down following ASADA notifying AFL that samples taken were positive.. Samples taken in February.

Yep, Clenbuterol. Same drug that got the tour de france stripped from Contedor. Illegal to purchase in Aus I am pretty sure.

Clenbuterol is approved in Australia only for ANIMALS. This could get these Collingwood players off. More interesting is that the samples were Feb 10th & the "B" sample will be tested by ASADA on 4th April. This is a lot quicker than Crowley's. Should get two years each as Clenbuterol is NOT approved for humans. Eddie will respond soon with some fickle excuse.

LS are you sure that ASADA will be doing the testing and not some lab?

No actual knowledge of the 2 Collingwood players doping situation but what I do know is that clenbuterol is often used as a substitute along with caffeine for MDMA in fake ecstasy tablets as they stimulate similar regions in the brain having mild effects like getting the heart rate up with the eye fuzz coming from the caffeine hit which may convince an inexperienced user in to believing they had the real thing ie these pills work but they ain't too strong so better take a few to get off hence the kids taking 6-10 of the buggers on a standard night out only to have "caffeine hangovers" in the morning . My best guess is these 2 boys have been very silly in NZ - the world capital in producing synthetic relational drug substitutes.

Concerned more than nervous PN. Whatever way the decision goes tomorrow the backlash will be huge. My gut feeling is that 7-8 players will be found guilty with comfortable satisfaction identified even though no smoking gun whilst the remainder will get let off due to insufficient evidence. The ANZAC day game the AFL scheduled in 2012 with only a 4 day break between games is the week under the microscope. Either way can guarantee we haven't heard the last of this saga. The court cases that will come outside of the AFL controlled investigation is where the truth will come out and have to add that it is flabbergasting that the decision tomorrow can be made without any direct scrutiny of Stephen Dank himself considering so many people's reputations are on the line on all sides of the fence, media included.

As for the Collingwood boys if they have eaten contaminated meat (highly unlikely in NZ but possible) good luck in proving it. Hard to prove yourself innocent of anything let alone identify something you ate months ago. Interesting if they have taken fake ecstasy tablets (as per my previous post) that these positive samples will be regarded as the use of PED's and not recreational drugs so therefore the boys won't be entitled to the 3 strike policy. Once again no thought given to intention with this current drug policy and if this hypothetical is what has occurred they surely won't be able to prove they were duped by the drug dealer or indeed the shop that's sold them synthetic fake ecstasy pills which I repeat the Enzedders are well known for indulging in and retailing legally for many years until recently.

Yea these 2 lads will cop it surely. It is a performance enhancing drug. Allows blood cells to carry more oxygen and is a fat metaboliser.

Also, lol at them blaming meat from NZ. NZ has some of the best meat in the world, no chance in hell it wouldve come from that. If it did then why did only these 2 test positive when it was a team trip? I can guarantee that they werent the only 2 that had steak.
