A tough player in his own right

Coached the Hawks to their first Flag in 1961 with Kennedy's Commandos..

And then NMFC with less success in the 80s.

Never forget sitting near the coaches box when he was coaching in the 80s , could clearly hear him screaming out and cheering on his players with gusto from the open box, all wearing his old brown coat.

Agree with your comments, a legend of the game. I recently saw an interview on FOX footy that he had a few years back with Mike Sheahan ( Open Mike) and he was still as sharp as ever. RIP

Bazza -- yep, RIP. I remember him at NM; the famous 'do something speech'; disliked that some hawthorn supporters booed him when he backed the merger with the cricketers. He only did that because those very same people refused to actually join their club.

Recent highlight was seeing him congratulate JOEY on winning the Swans Premiership v Hawks....he seemed wrapped for him. Will Joe play tonight I wonder?
